PC Based XR25 USB Cables

1. The 390 resistors go side by side parallel to the diode, the 1k8 runs along the bottom

2. On of the pins in those cables is the shield, you'll see that the wire is thicker than the rest, it's not used.

3. Gnd is pin 2, diagnostic is pin 9. I'll post up a pic shortly. The connector is in the fusebox

No probs Chet. It arrived this morning, addressed to Mr S.T.AINLESS.

Three resistors, one LED and a transistor, along with a PCB. No instructions though, are they on the site somewhere? Do you have a link?

I still haven't written the instructions up, i haven't sold many kits.

I'll do it for you asap

I think the 12 pin connector on my '96 R19 Cabbie is next to the ECU on the driver's side (RHD).

I'm not absolutely certain that is what it is, though, but it does have 12 pins, if I remember correctly.

1. OK
2. I can still put connector in two ways, is it black wire top (with triangle) to GND label?
3. Thanks.

I have a problem with sw install, fonts do not install and most of the text is garbage, any hints?

Wire 1, beside gnd, should be black, wire 3 should be red and wire 5 is yellow

To fix the fonts extract them into a different folder then manually drop them into the windows/fonts folder. I can't seem to get the installer to install the fonts properly

THAT WORKS, thanks.

Apparently these are the USB connections. Which connect to where?

I think I've worked out the rest of it.

The 6 pin header connects to an FTDI usb/ttl cable like this Cheaper ones are available just make sure they use the ftda ft323r chip or similar

The other components fit following the silkscreen on the board, watch the orientation of the diode. You have 3 resistors, 2 the same which run parallel to the diode and the other which runs along the bottom

So the kit needs an FTDI USB to TTL chip before I can connect it to a USB port?

OK, no probs.

My plan is to install the kit in the dash, with a normal USB 'B' port or mini port in the dash, so I can connect a standard USB cable to the car, with the LED above the USB port.

I can find out what I need to do this from other sites that I use if necessary.

I know this is different to how you intend the kits to be used, but any other relevant info would be useful if you have it.

EDIT: I think I need an FTDI DB9-USB-F, if all I need is a USB to RS232 adaptor.

Have you sent the Cable

Hi Chet

I ordered and did Paypal checkout for a finished cable 3 weeks ago soon after they went back on sale. I can check exactly when If you need me to. It hasn't turned up yet. Can you advise whether it has gone out yet?
Cheers
Warren

Hi Chet,

I ordered a cable in October, can you tell me when I might be expecting it?

Cheers

Hey,

As i explained to warreng via PM, things have been a bit hectic here the last while but the cable went out to you yesterday via registered post so i'd be surprised if you don't get it by the end of the week

Chet
