Paul's Elecrtric Blue GTT

Old Blue is my third GT Turbo, although my previous one was 12 years ago! OB had the same owner for the last 10 years, but was not cherished as she should have been, spending a good few years in an old shed. Untill last year when it was ordered to be sold by the guys fiance for wedding funds! Many, many years ago ny mate had a electric blue GTT and I loved it so could not let this one pass, even though I knew the years spent sitting would not have been good to her.

The guy got her mot'd and had put 1000 miles on the clock before I bought her. After a 250 mile trip home I was out of favor as the new owner and she refused to start! Turns out the HT leads were well corroded and the dizzy was not the right one. We also discovered that 3 out of 4 spark plug threads were crossed and the boost was building as high as it wanted!

So far I've:
Replaced cylinder head, distributor and leads.
Replaced melted fuel pipe that was resting on exhaust manifold.
Fitted new radiator and sensors.
Removed anti perc fan and dump valve.
Replaced aux fuel tank sttrap.
Fitted new shocks and brakes all round.
Fixed some wiring in dash.
Put another 1500 miles on her.

Unfortunately she has just failed the mot, in need of some welding. No where near as bad as I had expected it to be though. I'm repairing biits that can be done while still using her whenever I can. These cars a re so much fun to drive I just can't lay her up and do it all at once! A major body renovation will need doing at some point though. Maybe next year!

Have a browse through my pics so far. As I progress I will add pics to this site too. There are a few pics that have been posted elsewhere as "whats this?" pics!

Thank you for the link there, nice looking 5 in a rare colour. I have worked on / MOT'd so many of them (mechanic for PCS/webuyoldrenault long ago) so I know exactly what you mean by welding

Clean looking car just a shame they suffer so bad from rot :( my first 5 turbo was exactly the same. Have you thought about a re-shell in the future or are you just going to spend the money and time repairing yours?

cheers

whats the reg i can check it was a E

Thanks for the comments guys. This car was in Scotland for at least 10 years before I brought her to civilisation, lol'!
I can't find a great deal of rot so she's going to have grafts where necessary. I'll probably replace the sills just so I know they are done right, and the bonnet needs replacing cos its bent.
The wiring needs more work, especially under the bonnet as its a right state!
Original bumper and grill, morette headlamps and phase 1 19 16v wheels is where I'm heading.
She's a keeper so no rush. I found a guy to do the welding, going to take car over at weekend and see exactly what's underneath the kit too.

Sent while I should be working!

I knew another 5 from there belonging to mark pert and some 21's... never seen yours though. I used to live up that way.
