Over boooost problem

Hi guys,

i've got an over boost problem, when the turbo comes in it over boosts off the guage and the engine cuts out until I take my foot off the loud pedal. I've tried replumbing the turbo without the amnal valve by adding a variable boost valve, but now it won't boost all the way upto the red zone - anyone got any ideas? I run a standard set-up & wish to return my car to this set-up by sorting & fixing the problem and then loosing the variable boost valve - anyone got any ideas (please)!!! before I loose my temper.

Have you tried a known working amel valve instead of a bleed valve.

Id have said a split vacuum pipe, but then you said it hardly boosts at all once the amal valve is removed.

As Toe-knee says, try a working amal valve, Ive blown the internals on several amal valves before now.

At the end of the day its only air, its not gonna be anything major. Wont be a split intercooler, cos it'd underboost not overboost, same goes for the intercooler n turbo piping.

I've replace the amnal valve & it still over boosting. I spoke to Dave Sibley & he thinks that maybe the variable bleed valve is not plumbed in correctly. I'm gonna check & give that a go first & then see what happens - will keep you updated!!

over boost saga

Me again,

I've plumbed in the boost valve & the turbo is now boosting up to the correct area on the guage - BUT - although it's boosting up it's not got the punchy acceleration it had before & the needle will not hold steady, this is really bugging me now!!!!

Someone help me please

is it boosting up, then dropping boost? if so possibly the actuator could be weak, also could explain ur not having ur acceleration also.

It's fixed!!!

Watch guys,

No problems it all sorted & it only cost me ?2!!!! There was the smallest pin prick of a hole on the boost pipe, now she is really flying - 4 weeks to sort it but it's done now. I had a turbo converstion @ Turbo Dynamics and you can really notice it now - god knows how long it's been leaking.

Thanks for all the advise - this car is now NOT for sale!!
