oil pressure sensor: alternative for 8200673538 and 8200057180

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a pressure sensor for my Mk1. I ordered one but the thread size is too small (14x1,5). The original one have a thread size of 16x1,5.
I found some sensors in the internet with the right thread size and connector, but I am not sure about the correct pressure. There are sensors with different switching pressure (0,5 bar 0,9 bar).
Does anyone know the right switching pressure or does anyone have a part number from hella, etc.?

With the OE number (8200057180) was nothing found.

Jens

I tried both part numbers in google without helpful results. Some results in UK but not in Germany.
8200673538 worldwide results 43
8200057180 wordwide results 136 (most of them on russian sites)
I asked also my dealer for Aftermarket parts, but this OE numbers are not known in his system :tumble:

A part number of the old part is also not visible

I think this sensor will fit, but I am not sure about the switching pressure.

Thank you for the link, but I will forwarded to a German partner site. And on this partner site the sensor is declared as "no more available"
Strange story :(

Sorry about that !
I would think any sensor with the right thread will do, it's only working the oil pressure warning light. i don't think the ECU needs the information.
I MAY BE WRONG though. :)

The MR348 manual states oil pressure should be
2 bar at idle
5 bar at 3000 rpm
so a switch with 0.9 bar would seem to be the safer bet

This are realy helpful infomation. Thanks a lot.
In the meanwhile I could order a sensor with the correct thread size by my Aftermarket dealer.
I will give a feedback here when I have tried out the sensor in my vee.

Ed, Once again thank you for the information.

Now I have installed a Sensor from Metzger in thread size 14x1,5 and 0,5 bar.
Cockpit shows no failure, so I believe the sensor is a good alternative for all with bigger thread size :salut:
I had reworked the connector a little bit, because one side of the connector is a little bit higher as the original one (see picture below). Nevertheless function seems to be ok.

The sensor on the left is the new one from Metzger and the sensor on the right is the original (damaged) one.
