Right, im thinking this prob is the sensor rather than anything mechanical .. but i thought id see if anyone has had this..
I start car, it runs, oil pressure goes up, 1/2 - 3/4 on the gauge. SOMETIMES not all the time, but more than often now, when i accelerate / engine is under load the pressure dips down to just above the 'danger zone'. It does it a little bit but not as bad when you rev it too.. at idle its gernerally fine / good pressure reading. It doesn't do this all the time, but has been doing it more lately When it is hot. Sometimes the oil pressure stays very low when its hot, on idle the oil pressure light flickers (it has done that when its hot @ idle since ive had it in 2004) has had a engine rebuild inc big end bearings since & still does it..
I think last time i changed the oil i used mobil 1, can remeber it costing a smal fortune but was recomened as it was the dogz..
The car has no strange noises once its running, no knocking & it has oil. I do need to change the oil, probably done 5k since last change..
Im going to do an oil change this wknd & see if i get get the oil pressure tested by a local mechanic & see what happens..
I know the 21 stock gauge is not that accurate but its staring to worry me a bit seeing it dip n go back up..
Also, if i use the pass side elec window that makes the oil pressure gauge rise too lol
Any info would be greatly received :0)

Hi buddy, "HFC" did the same the whole time i had it - even the sunroof switch made it look like the swing-ometer......could be serious but sounds like an "electrical" problem to me......

when my oil pressure looks low i press my window switch for instant oil pressure to put my mind at ease lol,all the 21's ive had done this common dodgy french electrics i guess or all of mine have been fooked :0

Yep. Harder I drive the bigger fibs it tells. If it was reading right, my engine would be a pile of swarf by now lol
