Thanks Ali. Will report back when after I drive it. I looked around it yeterday and was lovely. I like the fact it has 5 doors, and 4wd. and that engine.....

I know Chris Harris slated it when put against the M135i...But tbh, that's on the absolute limit on a track. For everything else imo, the RS3 is in another league to the the M135i...Which quite frankly is ugly and a poor man's ///M...Sorry Colin! lol

I can't comment on any of these having not driven them back to back yet, but visually for me the 135m looks too much like a standard 1 series (I'm sure it drives fantastically!) but part of the pleasure of owning a car like this is the visual drama! the RS3 is a bit the same, in fact I saw one on the M62 the other day and struggled to work out if it was an S3 or A3 S-line until I got right up its chuff and spotted the badge! This is where the M3 and M1 are in a different league, as they look the part.

Totally agree, I think I've seen a M135 now, but not sure as they look hardly any different. But if you want anonymity and a fast car these do the job nicely. I'll have a 1M thanks - the only car I'd consider trading the V6 in for... but I'm not

So, I got my RS3. Haggled a nice 10% of list price, and came with loads of extras. Un-registered and 60 miles on the clock.

I love this car. It was either this or the 1M, and I surprised myself by choosing the RS3. Firstly, I would say to compare this to the 1M doesnt make sense to me. They clearly have a different intent in their purpose. The closest car Audi produce to the 1M is the TT RS. The RS3 is a practical 4 door car, designed for the dad who wants performance without the headache of the missus.

This car is seriously fast - and very easy to drive fast. I didn't want a car that flicks the back end out when you apply throttle on a bend. I've just owned one of these. Loved that, but not what I want from an every day car. I also wanted to buy a car that was comfortable, easy to drive when I'm hungover or tired, yet stupidly fast when I plant it. The build quality is extremely good. The ride is excellent. The S-tronic box very clever. The engine is absolutely fabulous. The grip is superb. And I can load my shopping plus other people into the back of it. I can take it out in the wet and the snow. It's an all-in-one package for me.

Yes, it's not a raw drivers car, but I have found it very addictive. The Vee is still the most fun car I've driven.

Go onto Ford website and price up a fast petrol mondeo estate, with the extras to match the RS3. It comes in at 35k.
Ummmm - no brainer!

Of course, there are plenty of other bargains that can offer the same, but for me, I just wanted this car. Very happy with it. I felt compelled to write this because most of the reviews are quite unforgiving and I dont agree with the context they compare the car in.

I wonder if the Phase 2 RS3 will iron out the criticisms of the Phase 1................ sound familiar?

Cheers! I'm actually looking forward to getting some snow to try out the 4wd..

It's black with aluminium styling package and titanium rotor wheels. Will post some pics up when I get some.

Yeah, the engine sounds brilliant - just running it in for now....

Glad you are enjoying it. Would be good to see pictures - the RS3's up this way all seem to be red.

I too was in the market for an Audi, but the RS3 didn't really cross my mind.
Can't get to like the look of it (despite the dealer pushing a good deal on one my way) so narrowed down to TTRS or S5 Coupe.

Getting the S5 in March.
A lot of people claim Audi is a boring marque, admittedly it is grown up, but the quality, drive and pace they keep are fantastic. I look forward to it.
