Thought I would update on my recent purchase of a 1988 Phase 1.5, purchased E224 FFG end of last year, already had new sills, jacking points and bumper mounts, but needed some more TLC. Just had re-spray in original pearl white, POR15 to underside, new brakes and some fettling, both engine and body kept stock, taxed, MOT ready to go...................

Standard as near as I can get in, that said the engine does pull a lot better than my R5 Gordini, despite 10bhp difference, perhaps that needs looking at. Not planning any more work at this time, just got the oil gauge working today after buying a new sender and 2 sets of second hand dash clocks and finally its working. its a very different delivery between the 2, having owned both a few times over the 5 gt turbo always feels quicker. The smaller turbo gives its slug of torque earlier and feels punchier and doesnt go as flat with the intercooler in place

GT Turbo is much quicker than a Dini turbo standard, despite the apparently similar power to weight ratios. With a decent bottom end rebuild Dinis will make much more power lb per lb than a GT turbo lump though.

Only to a certain point until you are just heating up petrol and air. Stick some modern fueling and management on there and it's a different story
