my trusty ph2 19 16V chamade for sale!

Right, I've cut n pasted this straight from my draft ebay auction which is where this car will go if it does not sell on here or via the for sale sign in the windows.

This is my trusty and much loved phase 2 chamade that I have owned for approximately 3 years and 4 months. I am the 4th owner. The first 2 owners were mature gentlemen (their business cards are still stapled to the inside of the history book) and the third was a guy called Steve who had it for about 10 months before he decided that he'd rather have a Nissan 200SX and sold it to me. During my ownership the car has been my daily driver and has never let me down. Always starts on the button hot or cold. It drives exactly how it should.

It has MOT until February and road tax until March. At the last MOT it needed a front road spring and new numberplates. That's all. Emissions were very low, the tester even commented on how low they were. Milage is 118000. About average for the year but as long as the new owner continues to look after the car and keeps up the maintenance like I have (change the oil and coolant when you're supposed to, let the engine warm up fully before you give it some welley, all common sense with any car) then there are a LOT more where they came from!

I am selling the car because I also have a phase 1 hatchback that I have spent the last 2 years rebuilding. I will be moving house soon and one of the cars cannot come with me. If it was up to me, I would keep them both but unfortunately that will not be possible at my new address so one of them has to go.

I always do all work on my 19s myself, because I know these cars literally inside out and because I do not trust anyone else to do things properly.

In April of this year I replaced the clutch and clutch cable (genuine Renault) and while I was at it I replaced the cambelt. At that time of course all fluids (gearbox oil, coolant) were also replaced.

Tyres are all Pirelli P6000 with loads of tread left. Some pikey nicked all the centre caps off the wheels one night and I have managed to replace 3 of the 4. Just one more is needed to complete the set. One of the alloys has a scrape to one of the 'spokes'. The spare wheel has a slow puncture but it is another phase 2 alloy in very good condition, so you could swap that over if you wanted. Please note some of the photos show the car with 17" OZ alloys on it, these are NOT included.

Exterior

The main thing to note is that the car has no rust. Arches are clear. Otherwise it is generally very clean. The odd small mark from carparks and a small scrape on the side of the front bumper plus a few small scratches here and there consistent with any 13 year old car but overall I don't think you will find better. The original bonnet suffered from the usual 19 16V problem of rust along the front edge. I replaced it with a rust free one but unfortunately there is a small ripple at the front edge instead. Not really noticeable. also there are a few stone chips on the front of the bonnet.

As you can see from the photos, it polishes up absolutely lovely.

Interior

The car benefits from leather interior. It is generally in very good condition. The bolsters are not worn like most you will see but there is a small split where the stitching has come apart under where your left thigh goes. The leather itself has not split. It only opens up when you sit in the seat and closes when you get out. I dare say you could easily replace the stiching if you were handy with a needle. Unfortunately I am not.

Everything works, all electrics etc. with the exception of the oil pressure gauge on the dash. This is a very common fault on these cars (more common than working ones!) and does not cause a problem.

I am including a JVC CD stereo in the car, with the standard speakers.

Mechanical

Mechanically the car is A1. The engine is one of the smoothest and quietest of its type I have heard. It pulls strongly, does not smoke, use oil or lose coolant. The only deviation from standard specification is a stainless steel exhaust (Magnex). I do not like obnoxious loud exhausts and this one suits me nicely. Just a subtle burble driving normally but if you put your foot down you do get a bit more of a roar.

New parts

New clutch
New clutch cable
New cambelt
Recent brake discs and pads front and rear
Both new rear wheel bearings
One new front wheel bearing.
New steering rack bushes

Any inspection is very welcome, bring the AA man or 'your mate Dave who knows about cars' if you like, they won't find any issues.

I am a well known member of the 19 16V owners club at www.retro-renault.com and a moderator on the forum. I have a reputation to keep so you can be sure that the car is EXACTLY how I describe it to be, with no nasty surprises in store. Nothing needs doing to the car. It is taxed and tested so all you have to do is insure it, get in it and drive it.

Looking for £950 ono. Worth every penny.

Car is in St Albans, Herts

Any questions or if you want further photos of anything specific, please do not hesitate to ask.

Forgot to say, the car comes with a set of genuine Renault roof bars, very quick and easy to put on/remove.

I know that will swing the sale for a lot of you!
