My Blue Phase 1 19 16v

After much deliberation I've finally decided its time to sell my Phase 1 :( Im of course gutted that ive got to but needs must unfortunately. So here we go...

Lets start with the main reason im selling it! Just before xmas one of the tensioners on the cambelt broke, the cambelt didn’t though, and as soon as it happened I killed the engine. I then spent 95 quid (!) on a new cambelt kit, my brother fitted it, but according to him there has been some damage to the engine, although it probably happened the next day when I took the cambelt cover off (as something, now known to be the tensioner, was hitting the cover so i knew thats where the problem was, i thought it was something simple like a stone had got in there, but no), then turned the engine over (not realising what had happened) to see what the score was. So the damage is going to be very minior, literally a turn of the engine rather than it actually running. I really really want to get it going again, and if i had the time and space I would just fix it at my leisure, but unfortunately i just dont. I really dont want to break it (although I will if necessary) so im going to try and sell it to a member here as a fix job. Its a perfect car for an engine upgrade/swap or with the knowledge some people on here have a fix up over a couple of weekends.

Some details

449 Blue
Full brand new cambelt kit!!
113k
Good bodywork, no rust other than round the vent, one dent to speak of on the drivers door, very minor though
Bilstein suspension all round
Red Dot Grooved front discs
Leather
Powerflow SS Exhaust
Some kind of cone air filter (I meant to take this off and replace with a standard job but just never got round to it)
When I got the car the strut tops still had the Renault stickers on them so they have been replaced recently, these are £100 plus a pop
Original alloys with all caps
MINT digi display
Many new parts since ive had her including;
Parcel shelf (old one was faded which bugged me!)
The leather
New Header Tank
Front pads (literally about 100 miles ago)
Recent plugs and oil/filter change
Track Rod Ends
SO many more that i can’t for the life of me think of at the moment!

Couple of minor bad bits;

Light behind the digi display isn't working (blatantly just a bulb)
Requires new speedo cable
Windows go up quite slowly at times

Its MOT'd until Feb 20th and the tax is out at the end of Jan unfortunately, Its probably worth mentioning the only advisories at the last MOT were a track rod end (so I changed them both), offside wiper blade deteriorated (all changed), offside rear inner brake pad worn very low (will come with brand new rear pads), front and park brake performance low (just needs the brakes bled as i changed one of the rear calipers not long ago). No rust/sill issues here.

That’s about it really. Great car all in all, drives well, absolutely flies, the ride is what might fairly be termed as 'firm' due to the Bilsteins but the handling is something else! Gearbox and clutch are both good and it never ever failed to start during my ownership.

£offers. Not silly £50 offers, sensible offers. I'll have it on sale just on here for a while as i really want it to go to a member who will look after and fix her, but if it doesnt sell on here on the bay she shall go, and if i dont get what im after there i'll break it up for spares, although that really is a last resort.

Will get some current pics shortly, but here a few i took earlier! Basically looks exactly the same (although perhaps not as clean at the moment due to adverse weather conditions)!!!

the valves are bent mate so the head has to come off and either new valves or another head on it.

Looks a nice one as well.

Yeah i know mate, and thats just a little too advanced for me otherwise i'd do it. I was considering having it as a long term fix up over the winter but a - i dont know what im doing and would probably do more harm than good and b - ive nowhere to keep it.

BB - i'd put it through an MOT for the sale ordinarily as i hate seeing a car for sale with a short MOT as, to me, it looks like there's something to hide when in this case there is definately not. But obviously it not running is a slight issue there!

If there was then I would consider doing that but in my mind i have kinda decided its for sale.

Dont try and talk me round, it took ages for me to decide that!! lol

looks really tidy keep it ive got a part engine kicking round if you need it just bolt all the 19 bits on it as i rinsed it for myself

I recognise this ph1 from somewhere....... Hmmmmmm (y)

I'd love to buy it back, but my 21 turbo project is almost complete, and taking up any spare space I have.

Seriously - was, and always will be a nice car - rot free as I remember, apart from the air duct on bonnet, and the odd car-park dink!!

Whatever happens do not break it! Just a thought how much you looking for her as she is ?

Phil, hi mate! Yep completely rot free, apart from the bonnet vent as you say. As you can see though mate, i've looked after her! Until this little episode it was all good, never ever let me down.

Ahhhh i dont know what to do now!!

will be block head etc im only taking off auxilarys as im rebuilding a 19 engine for me clio and need bits as some differ between the two all u will need to do is bolt your 19 bits on to it and away you go il do a swap for ur nakered one

Thanks for the offer mate, i really do apreciate it, but ive made my mind up, its for sale.

Offers welcome, and as you can see Reevio has very kindly offered to do a dastadly deal on an engine.
