Movies

i finished watching the kid and it too is good viewing. Except the morning tv clips at the end with phil schofieild and fern cotton interviewing the dude(i don't mean Jeff Bridges in a dressing gown)

Watched Inception last week. Now need to watch it again to understand it. Graphics are excellent though. I have downloaded The Town to watch on the train to and from work as well

yeah i enjoyed that too. Malkovich is quality in it, so is Willis but to a lesser extent. If you like that you'd like kick ass i recon

Just in from seeing fast Five.

I have to say, it was pretty good. The cinema was heaving, then the usual 1.2 corsas and clios wheel spinning out the car park.

But yeah I would actually go see it again.

Worth a watch.

I saw Fast 5 the other night too. OK if you can switch your brain off. The series is starting to suffer from 'mission creep' whereby it's not really about the cars any more. Basically an absurd Oceans 11 style heist/action caper with a few car sequences thrown in. Can you suspend your disbelief long enough for a 20-ton safe to be ripped out of a vault, dragged across a city and used as a wrecking ball towed by a Dodge Charger? If so - OK, this one's for you.

Also watched The Fighter, bloody good. Even though I think he's a cock, Christian Bale is very good in it. Great story, bit like Rocky, but without the cheese.

Watched Monsters earlier. Bit like Cloverfield but good.

I am looking forward to the hangover2 just because I love the Hangover. Never too sure with sequels but the previews look hilarious

"So long gayboys!"

i enjoyed the fighter and monsters too

watched the way back with farrell and local boy jim sturgess, they walk from a gulag in siberia to india. It was alright.

Saw paper moon an old b&w looked great on my new tv

new bond film coming soon

OK, so over the last 3 evenings I have watched:

Skyline - Alien invasion movie. Lame cross between Independence Day and War of the worlds. Good special effects though. Alien invasion movies tend to end one of only a couple of ways:

1- Aliens defeated by finding and exploiting a technological weakness (see Independence Day)
2 -Aliens are defeated by fortunate (for the humans) circumstances (see War of the Worlds)

To avoid ripping off those 2 films completely you have to end it differently to those 2 formulae (other than straightforward 'aliens win' which US moviegoers would not like). But how? Well I won't spoil it but it's kind of weird and it's kind of dumb.

Jackass 3D - Speaks for itself. These guys are starting to look old. 35-40 year olds getting bashed around and doing fart/shit pranks just isn't as amusing as the once youthful rogue personas. In fact it's a bit sad. Still laughed though.

The Green Hornet - Silly, brainless fun. Killed a couple of hours. Instantly forgettable.

went and saw HANNA in the cinema today. It was lifted by a quality soundtrack by The Chemical Brothers. I thought it was by Daft Punk (like Tron) untill the credits. Cate Blanchet is great as an evil CIA hotty and there's a comedy turn by a girl that's good in Tamara Drewe (playing a similar character). There are plenty of dubious continuity issues and some slightly dance-like choreographed fights. That said it was quite watcheable.

Also got Due Date, Morning Glory, The Secret In Their Eyes and Of Gods and Men to watch.

watched Tron legacy the other night, was quite good.

Although similarly to Driver 2 from Driver, they can now take corners opposed to only 90 degree turns

I have Knight and Day on DVD here at work tonight. I am not expecting a riviting film. But it will stop me sleeping hopefully

The Secret in Their Eyes - Argentinian film, has a ph2 19 saloon 1hr36min in and is therefore an awesome film
