Does anyone have a movie of there car with the rear silencer removed?

Ive seen one on youtube but not sure if thats with collector box removed too..

Or.. is anyone planning on changing over their exhaust soon and would be willing to get one half way through..

Im after hearing how it sounds.. Basically standard downpipes with collector box in place but without rear silencer..

Thanks

Jonny

i've lust done that to a box. it's not to loud but it pop's like crazy on over run. sounds alright. not as loud as an QS omg or even a sport [smilie=cool.gif]

Yeah thats the one that I have heard.. Sounds crazy!

Still not sure if that is without the collector too?

alrighty. at idle you wouldn't know any different that a standard box. around 2000rpm @ about 50 in top it's a little intrucive but nothing even as much as a QS sport. to be honest you know it's there but i done a 200mile trip with it and it didn't bother me at all. ask Mossyv6 what he thought. it really pop's.

Stevo.. Can you explain how you went about modifying the silencer please.. seriously considering this :D

yes. made a letter box running the entire length of the underside of the box running from the join seam along the back of the box.

once inside you'll find two baffle's on either side of the box. one on the inlet from the down pipes joining the box. secondly two running back from the centre of the box back across to either end of the box. i cut all these out leaving just the two plates in the centre of box to act as a support. i left the two holes in these plates. i thought about plating them but didn't in the end. finally the pipes flowing to the tailpipes. cut them out and had it welded back up. check for someone to weld as it will have to be tig welded as they are quite thin casings. like i say it's not loud when compared with other box's but it really does sound good on over run. but not overly intrucive.

Thanks

Sounds good.. do you think the pops are as loud as what the non standard back boxes produce.. may sound daft but i de-catted my cooper s i had a while ago and had the standard system on.. wasn't really any louder in normal driving but the pops were just crazy afterwards..

This may have a similar result..

umm. hard to tell really. they are deffinetly more pronounced. it's worth a try if you can get hold of a box.

Got to agree with Stevo here, the played with standard box sounds very nice indeedy!!!

I was very impressed!! :approve:

It pops and flutters at free standing revving but isnt boomy at all in the cabin.

This is a very good/cheap mod, if you can get hold of a second hand one. :D
