Mk1 / Ph1 Mégane Cabriolet F4R-t conversion

Not much to update other than Rob is fairly confident the ECU doesn't need to got Poland.
We'll wait and see what the outcome is.

Slight off-topic, but just to keep the thread semi interesting.
Took my other turd for a road test yesterday. Thought I'd get it ready for an MOT seeing as I won't be having any scenic drives in the Megane any time soon! Haha

Bit of a crazy build. Owned it around 6 years or so.
1987 Honda Chaly CF70. Although the tank and frame are the only standard parts.
Just been trying it out on different carbs and fuel pumps. Finally settled on a small vac pulse pump / petcock, and a 34mm (Yes huge for a 140cc) Koso Flat slide carb.

Fuck all to update yet. :(
No news on the immo yet.

Popped up to the parents house yesterday to look at fitting a towing eye on the car, so I can get it home.
Will fab some bits up in the shed and go back up better equipped next time. It needs something centrally mounting, utilizing the hole in the middle of the bumper behind the number plate. Going to make a plate with a threaded boss welded onto it, so I can pull the plate off (It's on velcro) and screw a tow-eye into it.

Anyway. Little things....

Wiper arm plastic covers. One was missing, one was broken. I sourced one from a breaker, and it was brittle and also broke.
Nabbed the covers off my Renault Trafic instead. Fitted straight on, and look better than the big plastic moldings that go over the whole thing too.

While I was there, I pulled the guts out of the thermostat. Hopefully it wont get so warm when I get it running again, and that would then tell me the stat was faulty.
Although I cant see it being that, as I drove the donor car 400 miles home when I bought it.
I guess 6 months sitting in the garden could have messed it up though.
We'll see.

Thats a real shame, it was running and working and now...not. Typical kick in the teeth, my V6 has just flipped me the bird too changing the AC rad. Ungrateful heap!

Good work getting this far with it, shame the ecu keeps pooping on you.

In my mind this issue happened regularly to the valver guys when they put 172 engines, looms and ecus in. It generally happened after plugging diagnostic equipment into the obd port, it automatically over rid the immobiliser delete chip and activated the immobiliser again, sometimes straight away and others after going for a drive.

Trying to think of the guys name who came up with a solution, pretty sure he used to own(s?) the rainbow warrior and engine swapped the little green lhd ph1 twingo? Want to say Andy Cooke?

Yep that guy you're thinking about is indeed Andy Cooke, not sure if he's on TR though?

I guess being a F1 Technician he can quite easily get his head round an ECU throwing it's toys out of the pram quite easily! :D

Well almost a month with Rob, and no progress.
I'm collecting the ECU tomorrow and it's being shipped off to Poland for the supplier of the emulator to fix it for me.
They say they can do it. My issue is, if it decides to shite it's pants again in a month's time. I'm back to square one.

Well I was most bloody impressed with their service! They sent it out yesterday morning, and I got a text this morning with a delivery number, due for delivery today by DHL.
Asked the wife to stay in.
OBVIOUSLY she went to the shops at 5 to 12.
And OBVIOUSLY DHL turned up at 12 oclock, put a slip through the door, and fucked off.

Wife come home at 5 past 12 to a slip on the door mat, followed by a very sheepish text to me apologizing. LOL!

Be good to hear what they reckon the issues were with the immob.

are they confident its now a permanent fix?

Their exact wording was:

CarLabImmo said:
Your ECU is very unusually. It was impossible to do synchro on it. Our tech team made change on ECU's memory and everything works correctly on the table.

So who knows.
Hopefully its a permanent fix. Time will tell I guess! haha
