I was wondering the same, great bit of advertisement though.
I'm all for records being broken but this type of scenario tells me that in theory at least, is a slightly flawed representation of performance in a market saturated with a huge combination of hot hatches of many different varieties.
Surely you want to compare a record against a like for like model from a competitor? For example the Honda lap time was with a car fitted with a cage, better tyres etc
But I get why there is appeal for people when you see the statistics, it is incredible to think that a potential daily driver (?), a Renault, can compete with automotive engineering powerhouses such as Ferrari, Lambo, Porsche etc
