Megane Megane 2 GT (2007) Front brake upgrade

Hi, i have a 2007 Megane GT 165 Petrol and as it needs discs and pads very soon i thought id upgrade at same time, thinking OEM off shelf jobbie and was thinking the calipers and carriers off a mk2 Scenic Turbo taking me from 280mm upto 300mm, discs available off shelf in 4 stud (which the petrol GT is oddly etc etc, any other options and moreso does anyone know the part numbers?

I do have in my stores a set of Clio 197 cup front discs/pads/callipers which i was hoping to fit as got them sitting about for another project however ive seen (and confirmed) that the 225 which is same as clio is tottally different hub arangement which after research showed id have to change the following (confirmation on this would be great for thought sake)

Hubs
Track rod ends
Bottom arms
Possibly subframe
Possibly struts (i wasnt so sure on this one as strut clamp diameter seems rarely quoted unlike clios
Thankyou in advance

OMG :ai: What an epic catalogue, @andybond how do i find which prefix the 2.0 Turbo petrol scenic 2 would be? just looked at 3 of them but cant narrow it down, got a guy willing sell me a setup BUT he saids its from a 4 stud 300mm Laguna which accroding to the Mintex and EBC catalogues, doesnt exist :read.gif:

You could probably fit the 225 calipers to your existing hubs with some custom brackets, 280/300mm discs and flexi hoses. The clio lads do it i guess it would be fairly easy.

Ideally fitting the full megane sport suspension would be the way forward but a shitload of work. You would need the front struts as diameter is different to non sport, also wheels are 5 stud so you would need a set and possibly rear beam

Hey Brigsby, i had the callipers in storage for go on the Scenic project but hadn't yet fitted them due to bracket costs and not using it in general, only thinking of using them on the Meg as seen some bigger Rangey callipers for the Scenic, either way seems an expensive way to get them on

Your first person ive seen confirm the 225 struts are different diameter so thanks for that, i knew about the wheels but this isnt an issue as have a set that would go on and was offered a set of 225 Cup 18's 2 days after getting the car and nearly brought them assuming being turbo that it was 5 stud untill i popped a cap off to check, the ONLY reason i was tempted go this way as im thoroughly dissapointed with the way it doesnt handle or grip in general out of corners, on the couple of accasions ive mentioned it on meg pages im returned with the reply "Gt suspension on front is NOTHING like RS suspension" admitedly from pics it looks a different design / theory but i cant find anyone having done the conversion to confirm its that that makes the difference and not the fact theyve jumped from a 1.6 elegance megane and into a 225 and amazed overall..

Get the front suspension parts off a breaker and get it swapped over mate, i dont think it will be too hard to be honest. I would just buy everything, wishbones/uprights/arb/subframe etc. What gearbox is fitted to yours ? NDO? Shafts might go straight in. You will need the steering rack too.

Here's a thought... are the front callipers / brake setup in general the same as Clio 1*2 like im assuming them to be? Clio and Scenic 1 is the same so im pretty confident they will be, just a guy contacted me this morning and is getting back to me on tuesday about some Brembo 300mm brackets he has unused in his workshop that he was saving for his 182, as long as hes reasonably cheaper on price its undoubtably the cheapest route

Otherwise given the prices some are after for 225 bits i think it comes back to my other plan of buying a 225 and robbing the suspension etc for this Meg and the engine and box for the Scenic rather than Turbo the 182 engine in the Scenic like id planned and selling the rest.
