Marks RX7 - lets break a rotary.

A bit of an update from the engine builder today. Rear rotor was dented and seals bent caused by detonation

So new rotor sent for balancing/lightening and then rebuilt, hopefully within 4-6 weeks timeframe.

WOW. That's an insane det mark. Is it possible to have more control over boost/ign timing?? I suppose service life is directly proportional to shaft horsepower, a bit like how budget is directly proportional to depth of pockets and indirectly proportional to length of arms. Have you found the limit of a 2 rotor?? Or is it possible to get more? I thought it's figure's were mental, but I don't know about Rotary's.

Two rotors in Aus, US, NZ etc all making 800hp + as they are loving life with E85.

2 rotors running in the 6’s QTR mile just in the UK we are limited to fuel and decent tuners it would seem although I do think the guy I use knows what he’s doing.
 
I always remember as a younger man in the early 90's reading numerous articles on R5 gt turbos with insane HP figures. These articles nearly always did not feature a road test as said engine was in pieces again.... If UK fuel quality is the limiting factor then thats it. You could always go Methanol (cannot overfuel and no Detonation ) only issue would be the fuel consumption not getting above 3mpg. Towing a 500gal tank around with you is kinda impractical. Keep fighting the good fight, I have certainly enjoyed your exploits so far, I hope it all comes good.
