Loltus Exige

Today I went to see @ratmangta at his place of work.

He literally fitted me in with zero notice and moved other jobs around so many thanks for that.

My "attack of the RTV" was mostly highly successful. Enough for Lee to ask do I really want this doing.

As two bolts were knackered and I have a trackday on Saturday I thought what the heck, lets get it done.

Its now leak free with a new liquid gasket in place so roll on Saturday

My list of jobs is now :

Discover WTAF is going on with the immo. Its working as in I cannot start the car without pressing the big button.
After EXACTLY 2 minutes I get the red flashing on the dash whether ignition on , car on or off. Whats going on with it?

Summary.

After spending many thousands of pounds on a plastic shed , and the spending a while lot more on it getting it just right with some on point geo the exige clicked. I have learnt a good few things in my exige ownership namely.

1) Geo is vital. Shit geo , shit laps
2) Suspension is king. Leaking shocks , or worn parts mean shit laps
3) I can be faster. I need tuition.
4) Its really hard to feel the edge of the grip at Blyton, is it the tarmac or is it me?
5) I dearly love driving the exige on track , or on the road.

Standard Blyton food affair at lunch

Going so fast not even the sticker could stay on

This was a rocketship. Its so well setup its unreal and the driver really can pedal well. IMG_E1988.webp

My mate and I exige s2. Very equally matched power wise but I think Kyle is the better drive on track as he has vastly more experience with the exigeIMG_E1991.webp

The love affair will be continued in due course.

Things to do:

Change brake fluid
Change rear pads
Change rear discs
Set the immobiliser on fire or smash with hammer. The flashing light is doing my head in now :)

Best approach for tyre pressures in my opinion is to run normal road pressures for a handful of laps on first session, come in and drop to required pressure. Never seems to be a set cold pressure that works for different tracks and ambient temps. Tyre pyrometer is the way forward but expensive.

That is exactly what I did mate. Ran 26R24F cold ( setup when cold on Friday evening )

This was a result of 5 laps.

They measured 32R26F when hot after that minor incident.

Dropped them to what I said above when hot and they were spot on.

A fabulous video @andybond !! I love the subtitles you put on it and chuckled when you posted the bit about holding your beer!! Class!! :grin.gif:

The old Exige sure does go round there well!! Just a shame I'm too plus sized to fit in one.. :(

I think if you really wanted to , you could get in one. Or at least an elise.

Thanks for the video comments :)

Ill upload some more videos for watching ( without edits ) later ..

A brilliant day at Blyton park today with a fellow exige s2 owner

I went out in the first session with rears set at 26 cold, fronts 24.

That might have been a mistake because after a few laps this happened :

Ill upload some more pictures and videos in due course ..

Got to love a mid engine arse twitch.....well dont not ending up cutting the crops in the field ;)

Exige/Elise/Vx220 all seem to bite when you push on early and feel extra sensitive to tyre pressure/temp than any other car I have driven

Looks like a cracking day out

What was in the octavia?

I have noted the same regarding the tyre sensitivity, also geo settings. Never known anything so sensative.

The Octavia is a 400+bhp sprint car that is setup so well! Its a ballistic missile.

I have 0 track experience, but the lad must be a bit gutted in that BRZ. especially if he watches your video. He looks like a full on jean ragnotti rally man pedaling hard, and your in car looks like a nice relaxing Sunday drive... haha. car looks quick, very cool.

Immo now fixed.

The 2A fuse in place 11 ( bottom left on inspection panel fuse box ) was blown. Not quite sure why.

However , swapped for another 2A fuse and voila. No flashing immo.

Squeaking belt, rear discs and pads + fluid change to go.D
