Lightweight Flywheel + uprated engine mounts??

Do you think you would be able to get another set of the engine mounts made up?

Also how much did they cost all together?

Thanks

Jonny

The solid lower one which is the most important I expect I could. The others, if you want to do them too, you'd need to source yourself, Damax only made them for me as they were doing lots of other work on the car at the time.
If there proves to be enough interest Scott was considering getting some (lower only) made in a batch which could help cost. They were not cheap as it's 2 big and expensive rod end bearings and some machining time to produce these. The price for mine reflected that I was already a customer and had other work done. A one off might be in the region of £75 I guess.
See if you can get some interest in the group buy section and Scott can probably get a discount.
It's a worthwhile upgrade and the only mount that really is important, MikeT has this one on his 500bhp Turbo V6 too.

Tim - I'd like one of these for my car - perhaps the start of a group buy although timing is such that we're probably looking at putting this together quite quickly.

Cool

Ill make a post in the Group buy section and try and raise some interest

Thanks

I've spoken to the supplier and it's no problem to produce some. I'll chat with Scott and see what interest he thinks he'll have - he has other customers who are not forum members.
Price is tba subject to demand and costs for the bearings..............

I’m still concerned that it will put extra stress on the poor mounting hole on the subframe over a period of time. And lets be honest those that want this upgrade drive a little more lets say competitively and there for the stress would be slightly higher then normal road use.

I know that TRW has an up rated subframe so may not cause much of a concern, but those who have standard use caution as a repair on the subframe may be costly(IMO)

Saying all thay I do like the idea of it.

Mk2 subframe is a little stronger than the Mk1. For anyone concerned it would be very easy to reinforce the mounting point before fitting the mount but I don't think this will be an issue.
MikeT has a Mk2 subframe also and runs 500bhp through a flat shifting sequential box, that's seriously more stress!!!....no issues there and it's not that much better than a Mk1 so anyone with a standard or modded Mk1 would be fine I feel.
The less the engine twists and moves the less stress on the transmission which is the weaker of the two....

I cant see that replacing the standard lower engine mount to a solid item would put any more stress onto the mounting point on the subframe, you still going to have the same amount of torque.

If anything it would be beneficial as it should load up the mounting point more progressively rather than a massive shunt..

Im in :D

I think the concern is coming from the fact that the OEM fit mount has a rubber bush that provides a degree of isolation for the subframe from the shock of the engine attempting to turn uner load.

If you go for a solid mount and that mount was not engineered properly or fitted incorrectly those point loads would be maginified and concentrated which could lead to the mounting point on the subframe becoming ovalised at which point you've got a potentially nasty problem.

Having said all that - I'm definitely in and I'll trust both the engineering of the mount and my tame Motorsport guy to fit it :-)
