I took my centre console out a little while ago ( with the aim of getting it repainted ). It's not a big job, a couple of screws which are awkward to get at due to proximity of seats, so a ratchet with a screw bit was the best option, followed by plenty of wiggling to pry the console free once unscrewed. Removal is a 10-15 min job. Reckon it's more of a job to get it back into place tho.
Just looked in the Vee a couple of nights ago to start it up and move it, GAS MASKS NEEDED!! Some bloody rodent has gone off and died somewhere in the car and the smell is unbelievable! [smilie=icon_eek.gif] Tried all the destinkers and no effect! YUK!!
Is it ok to just fire up the Vee, leave it running for 10 mins or so (to warm it up) and then switch it off again (as a part of the Winter SORN thing)? I know that it's not a good idea to start and stop an engine for a short period of time due to water build up in the exhaust, but I'm just wondering if this is something we garage queen Vee owners should be doing?
The best thing to do before storing cars is it do an oil change, take it for a run get it fully up to operating temperature, then inflate tyres to max sidewall rating (relieves flat spots on tyres) then lock away with trickle charger on the battery and forget about starting until you intend to use again.
You will be creating a lot of undesired condensation by starting and stopping once a week without ever allowing things to get upto full operating termperature.
I do all of the above and have played with carcoons, airflow airchambers and last year tried the permabag solution but have since purchased a dehumidifier and control the humidity levels that way.
Interesting storage advice here for those interested...
Don't start the engine! Remove coil, wash it, dry and spray with WD40, dry round plug carefully then WD again. Rat piss is acidic and will attack metal :approve:
