Lazy Starter Motor ?

Hi ppl,
The other day i went to start up the v6 and it didnt sound right the starter was turning but it sounded really weak, and after a few attempts stopped turning to the sound of clicking relays etc.it starts now but it sounds like its only just , sometimes the starter hesitates and it just sounds weak, like its not turning at full speed. Cleaned the connections on the battery, not made any difference. Has anyone experienced anything similar and could it be anything simple like bad connection at the engine end?
any thoughts appreciated , cheers
Steve

I have some input on this as ... you guessed it ... my Vee has started to start poorly when hot ...

The battery indicator was green but when tested it was kaput ... but wait - there is more ... a new battery, in fact 2 new batteries, did NOT fix the issue but merely disguised it ...

When VERY hot the starter turns slowely due, I now know, to a combination of increased electrical resistance and a degrading starter ... a big battery can help but the fundamental issue is typically starter (and in other cases faulty earths or wiring) ... when the engine cools down all is fine again ...

I am playing safe and looking to replace the starter rather than risk any starting issues ...
