Good afternoon fine people of TR

I dug my old polisher out today to try and hack away at the Megane's paintwork with some Meguiars 101, and a Meguiars microfiber cutting pad. The problem I have (apart from being crap and impatient), is that the pads aren't sticking to the polisher, especially when I put the speed up a bit. Are there any tricks to stop the pad from falling off every two seconds?

I tried gaffa tape. It didn't work though

Worth changing to fresh pads or try a different back plate?

What speed are you using it at?

Brand new pad. I've tried a few different types.

I've tried all speeds - 1 to 68456.6. The higher the speed, the less effective the stick. After a short while at a higher speed, the pad just falls off, even when the machine's not running.

That's strange... can't say I have ever had that issue.. but then again I am new to all this, but can't say I have heard similar.....

But considering your saying you have tried various pads it sounds like a back plate issue, or possibly the machine is out of balance....

What backing plate are you using? It might be worth brushing the velcro out if it's full of fluff.
Does it do the same with other pads or just the microfiber one?

It was the pad that came fitted. I tried brushing it up and it didn't have any effect.

It's the same with all the pads I've got - Foam and MF.

Sounds like the Velcro has lost it's grabbiness. New word!
Try a new backing plate
