Anyone out there running any performance upgrades !! K-TEC racing is about a 20 min trip from my house, I am looking to change the back box for the K-TEC sports one... Not the full system. Has anyone got one of these?? Pro's and con's please .... And what air-filters are you using ?? any gains etc, Not to sure if i want any more cabin noise... if that makes sense !! looking for simple mods just to gain a bit more GO ! and a bit more pick up.

Thanks in advance :D :D

I to would be interested in hearing the sports back box, so if anyone is in the Northants area give us a shout.

Come on you lot !! I take it most people have standard set-up then :( Will pop over to K-TEC this week and have a look at whats on offer  Would have been nice to have some input from owners that have fitted any performance upgrades ! :( Don't want to go the wrong way and end up messing the car up !

ClarkieV6 has the K-tec back box and he raves about it... It certainly looks the part in the flesh!

I've got the Renault stainless steel backbox on mine. Sounds different to the original mild-steel one, seems to have improved performance slightly, and looks a damn site better too! There's a photo of it in here:

Cheers for the input :) Had a chat with Dave at K-TEC today about exhaust and air-filter... Going to go with the KTR back-box in stainless but not to sure about air-filter... BMC or piper-cross :?: Sounds like only small gains to be had, But should help it breath better and pick up will be a bit crisper.... I hope :D

Keep you all posted.

Dave.

James that looks MAD !! Do you know what make it is ??

Hi,
I've got a K tech stainless back box & BMC induction kit, fitted at the same time by K tech. The results were noticable immediately, when the car was driven. No more noise on tickover, but when you give it some beans, it is FANTASTIC!!!! also, the engibe revved abit easier & certainly had more top end. Best thing to ever do to the Vee. it gives it a real voice!

hi all, im thinking of getting the same mods, but one thing im not sure about is the exhaust, people say that the mk2 v6 already has renault sports exhaust fitted as standard, and if so would there be any point in getting a k-tec sports exhaust, or is this upgrage just for people with the mk1 v6?

Also if a k-tec exhaust would sound better than the mk2 standard one is it worth paying the extra and getting the full system. k-tec are saying the full system gives 16bhp increase.

As far as i'm aware, the system for Mk1 & mk2 are similar, but their are technical guys on here that would know.
K tech do claim 16bhp from the full exhaust, but i'm not sure if that is with or without the sport cats. best check with them i guess.

is there any other place (other than K-tech) to get my V6 an exhaust system ?!?

k-tec rear box....yes very good...i love the sound.
it is a lot lighter than the renault one...
on the other hand the genuine one from renault is only 90 quid!!!

...

What part of the exhaust? List price for the main rear silencer box for a Mk2 v6 is OVER A THOUSAND!!

Peter

I think the £90 alex is referring to is for the factory fitted mild steel backbox for the mk1 (though I think it fits the mk2 also). The mk2 comes with a stainless version as standard, hence the big difference in price.

I think most mk1 owners would not consider replacing like for like when the original backbox gives up the ghost, which is why Renault offer them so cheap to try to get shot of them - I certainly ditched mine in favour of a stainless replacement!
