Is this a coil on the way out or something else?

I've had a coil go before, but never like this. I had been driving a while (super hot weather) got stuck in a jam and the fans came on. Eventually I got to the roundabout and accelerated. When I got to about 3k revs it sort of died on me, total loss of power.
Seemed to run ok at low revs, did it a couple more times and the same thing happened. I'm away with work at the moment and sat in a beergarden pondering. Long drive home tomorrow (I do have a spare coil in the car) any suggestions?

Good point, I'll have to check. It's going in for an mot and some bits and pieces to be done so ill get him to have a look.

Mine had this turned out faulty fuel pump

Reason is dealer sat car on his forecourt with less than 2 gallons of fuel and the pump actually rotted away!

You can get a garage to put a clip on and check fuel pressures as well to confirm

Update: new spark plugs fitted, everything fine. One happy bunny. Oh and if you ever decide to change the spark plugs on a ph1 don't do it. Get it to a garage, it's a mare!

Nice it's fixed. :approve: What kind of plugs did you fit?

Why get it to a garage? It's a bit different than a standard car but not that bad. :violin: :salut:
