I am not looking for a PH1, my mind is set on a PH2! (Right, that's out the way)

Looking around, the PH2 ;) seem to be twice the price of the PH1 ;) .

Do YOU think there worth double...?

<flamesuiton>

Market values may suggest that however in reality are the extras worth 5-10k .... doubt it. So if you cant afford a Ph2 then you arent losing out getting a ph1. In fact you will be getting a bargain in comparison. They all have the road presence, almost identical performance and Brett has called it right, as the original, the Ph1 probably will eventually be worth more but they would have to be unmolested examples or reversible mods with the original parts still available to put back on.

The flip side is would Ph2 owners trade in for a Ph1 .... no unless it was an Illiad :)

The great thing is there is no discrimination on this forum whether you own a Ph1 or Ph2 we are all just soooooo nice [cmilie=iconcheers.gif]

We have friendly banter but thats as far as it goes. And Brett is a young fiesty one as you may have gathered, prone to emotional (or is it hormonal  ) tendancies. Only joking mate before the beast erupts again!!

No is short answer. Both are at lower prices than they should be and a better barometer is European prices as Duncan said.

Hilarious Dan!. it's like prodding a Tiger with a stick. He only posted this at midday and the bait is being well and truly taken.
tomorrow's question will be " is an i.d. colour really worth more than illiad blue lol

Hell no they're not worth twice as much.

I started my search having swallowed the "don't touch the PH1 with a barge pole" argument, saw a few rough PH2s for 12-13 grand, finally decided to look at PH1s and immediately found a peach for 3 grand less than the animals I'd been looking at. Drove it and it felt tighter than the PH2s I'd driven due to the condition and complete lack of miles, and that was that.

The presence is identical, looks wise it's cleaner, handling wise it's lairier.. If I wanted more predictable handling I would've bought an Audi S3 ;)

PH2 is nicer inside no question, but the things that we're actually bothered about are the same (the shite seats, shite driving position, general quality of Renault plastics). I can't believe the extra grunt is noticeable either with all the pointless/heavy "enhancements". Again, if I cared about the interior I wouldn't have been considering a V6.

PH2 pros: Colours are better, less have been treated like shit and badly modified by neds, it's easier to find a good one (with a 14k+ budget), easier to sell due to the 182 and Scooby drivers filling the internet with unresearched shite about the PH1 and the 18s are better (easily rectified if you're not an OEM whore, which unfortunately I am).

I'm not convinced the build quality is any different between the two, both are pretty cack.

I don't understand why anybody would want to hold on to two PH2s versus a PH1 and a PH2. PH1 and a PH2 side by side will always be the dream for me.

PS. I love PH2s and do think they're superior, but in ways that are nearly irrelevant (and it appears our European friends agree, based on prices over there)

Depends also on how we are defining the term 'worth' too. I'd say for me it exceeds the monetary value for both a phase 1 and 2...

a mint ph2 with mega low mileage, £20,000 - still for sale today , no takers,
if a mint ph1 with mega low miles came up for sale at £10,000 I bet it would sell within the hour !!!

so I'm not sure they should be double,

just my opinion

thought there were 2 silver ones with 3300 miles and 8850 miles, also the acid yellow one , I try to keep clear of the for sale section in case I end up with another one !!! so maybe sold now

yeah missed out on the two titanium ones . shame as it is a colour i would of gone for . and the ay one the owner changed is mind and kept it .

you never know Matt, I get dafter as I get older, I've just bought a waltzer car today, to go with my dodgem and dalek,
thought it would be a nice valentines gift for my wife, if she ever speaks to me again !!

Nope.

However, the right car for you (be it phase I or II) is worth paying the extra cash for over the other examples.
These things are hard to come by so be prepared to pay extra and act quick.

I better not mention my red telephone box in the garden as people will think I'm weird and start avoiding me at future V6 meets !

sorry , back to the ph1 v ph2 discussion

Phase 1 owners will see theirs as the "original" v6
Phase 2 owners will see theirs as the "refined" v6

Both sets of owners love v6's and the aura surrounding them :approve:

I don't believe for one second however that phase ones will be worth more than phase 2's in 20 years time.
