IRIDIUM - DAN BAYES

Jainy

New Member
It is with great sadness when I say that one of our former V6 owners and members Dan Bayes yesterday lost his fight with cancer and sadly passed away at 7am yesterday morning. [smilie=icon_cry.gif] [smilie=icon_cry.gif]

Dan was a lovely lad, who loved photography and obviously had a great love of cars, in particular his V6 which he had to sell on because it was getting un-comfortable for him to drive.....

I know a couple of us were lucky enough to meet up with Dan last year in Scarborough and do a bit of a Vee mini-meet, prior to Dan selling his Vee. I know I am personally gutted to hear the very sad news, and my heartfelt sympathy and condolences go out to his family who must be devastated at losing their son at such a young age. Dan had fought cancer since the age of 16.

It makes you realise, that everything that we complain and moan about, pales into insignificance when you hear of stories like this......we should all make every day count.....life is short.

God bless Dan and at least his suffering and pain is over.....

Very sad Jainy

Very sad news Jain..

Although I wasn't furtunate enough to meet Dan, I recall him being one of the more frequant users of this site early on, and indeed CS. The pictures he took of his car on the front at Scarborough were quite fantastic, and made me yearn for a Vee even more.

He always seemed to come across as a happy go lucky guy, and made light of his situation. A real inspiration.

Fairwell fella...

To all his family and friends, my thoughts are with you. Great guy.

I was saddened to hear the news, having only met Dan once I look back on his enthusiasm and lust for life as an inspiration ...

RIP Dan, with thoughts to his many friends and family ...

Gutted to hear this news. My feelings go out to his family. rip. It was dan who bought my old phase one..I remember the smile on his face when I first took him out in it!

Great guy and so brave right up until the very end.

Bet he's driving a few decent cars in supercar heaven now though :)

Dan (Iridium) was a real fighter and tried his to best to chat with me until he simply couldn't. In the end all he could manage was yes/no and of course lots of LOLs always. That was Dan's way.

It was Dan's wish to keep his car in our Featured Car section. A few additional words will be added soon.

Thoughts and condolences.

My tribute from Cliosport:

Terrible, terrible news.

Dan was a fantastic chap and it was a pleasure to have known him. When I purchased his Vee from him he was so open and helpful, I think we exchanged over 25 e-mails. I felt really bad buying the car from him as I got the feeling that he really wanted to keep it.

In a way I'm glad his suffering is over but I can't help but feel angry that good people like him are taken from us so early. RIP Dan, you have had a big impact on me and the way I think about life.

...I think your words and tributes Ed speak for how many feel who had the pleasure to have met Dan - it's what I fell to sleep thinking of last night and when I woke this morning....the news gutted me...life seems so unfair at times....

Do we know when the funeral is going to be, Jainy?

Just for info, one of his friends on the CS thread has said they will post the details on there when they are available and that, from what I remember reading, anyone is welcome.

Martin

I really would love to attend despite the distance.

I feel bad that I no longer have his old Vee as I knew this day would come and wanted to turn up to a meet in it. :(

Hi Guys,

I am trying to get the news/date at the moment on when and where the funeral is going to be. I really want to go, even if it's in Scarborough (which it's probably likely to be) as soon as I know any further details guys I'll let you know....

:(

Guys,

The details of Dan's funeral is as follows:-

East Riding Crematorium, Octon Crossroads, Langtoft, Driffield, YO25 3BL
Monday 20th April at 4pm

James has kindly offered to accept donations for flowers for the funeral to the following account:-
http://www.v6clio.net/forum/shop.php
Whatever is donated to this account will be used for a floral tribute on behalf of V6Clio.net and its members.....I am hoping we get enough donated so that I can have a V6 emblem made out of flowers, which I feel will be a touching tribute to Dan.....

If anyone is planning to attend the funeral, please can you PM me.....

Thanks
Jainy

Well that's terrible terrible news, such a shame :(

It seems they've put some real thought into doing several nice things for Dan on Cliosport, every credit.

RIP Dan xx
