I keep my vee at my sisters and the insurance company was totally cool with that. It will always stay there so there is no problem from a legal standpoint. They said they do understand that occasionally it could be left overnight at my address but I wouldnt want to do that anyway cos it is safer at my sisters!!

You do relise saying this is only pushing me towards getting one evern more knowing i can get the insurance £400 cheaper! :)

Just out of interest who is your insurance with?

Elephant. Her address is only 0.9 miles away saved me £800. My insurance rocketed due to getting six points on my licence so I was glad I could stick the vee at hers and get back to a reasonable renewal price.

Paul,

I first insured the Vee at 22. Cost £1400ish iirc, 2nd yrs it was £971usg and not it's around the £500 mark. All with Admiral. The differentiator is location (Postcode) and regardless of your age/points/NCD the Postcode will have the greatest impact on your overall premium.

Good luck and welcome!

So at least thats a good saving each year. My postcode is average, i'v looked on the postcode comparrison pages and im slap bang in the middle.
Famous question, was it worth paying all the money for? Or did you get bored after a year?

I'd try Adrian flux they always seem the cheapest to me , I am a bit older at 44 , but still worth a try ;)

Well another 22 years and i might have insurance like yours :) I'm open to ideas so i'll take it on board.

Hi Paul,

Best of luck with the sale. I do like a nice RB 182!

I rang up sky, adrian flux and greenlight. between them three they were half what any comparison site would offer me. Admiral (& Elephant) were also not too bad.

Another point id mention is that in my experience a high excess made no difference. £200 or £1000 my policy was still the same. Nice to have the piece of mind that if something does happen your not going to be massively out of pocket.

I'll be honest, it's gunna kill me seeing someone else drive it away!RB is by far the best colour for a 182!

I've never tried sky or greenlight before so maybe i will give them a call to get a rough idea of what there asking.

Hmm, i always thought that the bigger the excess then the cheaper the insurance, but your right, it would be a big piece of mind knowing that if something happened i wouldnt have to pay a £1000!

Well i'm still here! So i hope that answers your question!

It does, thanks.
I will be trying so many ways to keep it down and fingers crossed i'll get closer to £1000, i'd happily pay the £1400 though to be honest. (as long as you can guarentee i won't regret it ;P)

Yeah, i dare say i'll be using their address too, just done it on google maps and it's 0.2 miles away with a saving of £400!

welcome

i was 23 when i insured my vee, 4 years no claims and for me it was £700/ elephant..

Impressive! What was the excess? I'm not sure if I would be willing to have a £1000 + compulsory on a vee.
