insurance question

Hi just want a few thinks cleared up. Im 22 have been driving a year and No NCB. I been driving a highy modded C2 VTS and in my grans name std just as i passed my test it was £560 but that was down to the fact she was allowed to transfer 5yrs NCB onto a new policy.

Then when i modded it i insured it under my mums name £1700 due to mods and neither me nor me mum having NCB because her insurance comp wnt give her NCB cos im not over 25. Also 2 claims in with that, both of them not my fault. But a 3rd has happened and this may be part my fault, 2 other cars involved. long story short, fuel spilled on road plus rain, i tried stoppping skid into a parkd car, the woman coming towards me tried stopping and slid also into me, cars a write off

So what i was wondering when i do a quote do i say i have made 3 claims being i was a named driver, also same goes for my mum? does it mean we BOTH made claims, being it was her policy but i was in the car at the time.. hope that makes sense.

Also how come my mum cant take out a new policy with the NCB she has got from her originall policy?

Last question im thinking going named driver till im 25 then take out insurance in my own name, then i will have 4 yrs driving experience but No NCB, people say when your 25 it goes down..

ANy suggestions?

You only have to disclose the fault claims that will include ones where you have partial liability such as 50/50 or 75/25 split liability or any claim involving your insurance company having to pay out any money.

Different insurance companies quote on different things some companies will quote on new business using the main driver and add a named driver whilst others will quote on the highest risk (that would be you with no ncb and an accident) even though you are a named driver.

I'm guessing the last claim is still on going that’s why they won’t honour the NCB.

I would suggest taking a policy out in your own name, insurance won’t drop that much at 25 they still view as an inexperienced driver cause you have no ncb and if they find out you are the main driver when the policy is in your mums name they would probably void your policy anyway!

Good luck on you insurance quest!

Hmmm ... most companies expect you to disclose all claims whether fault or non-fault. A few companies eg. Admiral actually use the non-fault in their insurance pricing model and will load it against you with even non-faults on a group 20 car like the Vee. Failure to disclose stuff will only bite you if you do need to claim!
