hi,
Whats the best place to get insurance for the V6 if your young?
Im 22 at the moment and the best quote i got was £3528.41 chich is too much.

James.

Good luck James, try sky insurance or some of the specialists i.e. adrian flux etc.

TBH you can expect the insurance companies to charge you an excessive premium due to your age, the value of the car and performance - it's kinda par for the course.

You should be able to get the premium down a bit but I would expect £2k to be a fairer low limit. Some other younger owners may have better ideas - Karen Louise is 23 she may be bale to say how much she pays.

I expect you know if you can handle one of these cars but they are a bit twitchy and exciting to drive and, from my experience, sometimes cars like these in the hands of younger drivers don't tend to stay in one piece long. This is a statistical fact not meant to be a dig at younger drivers - as we were all young drivers once - facing the same issues.

I remember trying to insure things like Sierra Cosworths back in the 80's - not possible at my age then.

Good luck and hopefully you will find a premium which allows you to enjoy this great car.

Got my MK2 vee when i was 22 and insurance was costing me £1600 with two years NCB that was with admiral.

Dennis

Wish I had been able to insure a car like the Vee at that age ;-)

Not bad figures those considering.

Be careful insuring under other peoples names though. Insurance companies often use clauses to legally exclude this type of cover - typically by stating that the insured must be the primary user and that named drivers are occassional users. Difficult for them to prove - maybe but still worth knowing about.

This post can be edited if necessary ...

Advanced driving qualifications can also bring insurance costs down too.

kool thanks for the replys.
it will have to wait for a bit now till i get one, as i want one trade really so i can P/X my current car for it, and at the moment i cant seem to find any Mk 2 ones for sale, all ones on autotrader have been sold when i rang up.

i dont get insurance at all, my RS at the moment with 280 Hp is cheper than the clio thats 255 hp
as an experimant i checked up on an R33 skyline too which is another car i want, 270 hp standard, somehow that was cheper than the clio too. think i might be gong down that rout.

The RS is only group 16. It also depends on a lot of other things than just bhp. E.G Age, location, safety rating. etc
