Insurance- Elephant- stealers

New Member
Im usually a big fan of Admiral etc when it comes to renewing the insurance for the vee-
However this week I rung up to change over to the Focus RS ( 2l Turbo)
Now on the webb all the info I get is that the focus is a group 16 & the vee is a 20- so for the remainder of the 5 months I was expecting a small refund ( Not that the money made any odds)- but with those differences in groups you would assume that there would be some difference-

Nope-
Clio v6 on elephant- Group 27
Focus RS on elephant- Group 28

its only a score to upgrade- so hardly going to bankrupt myself- but I feel VERY surprised at that quote & will shop around for my full years renewal with 6 years no claims & potentially another year with a clean licence.....

cant believe a FRS would be considered a bigger risk than a vee!! [smilie=doubt.gif]

Thats not great at all :( - with Adrian Flux when i went to ensure the v6 on a seperate policy to my FRS i only paid £250 more yearly on the vee compared to the FRS. I'd try a few more insurers tbh as the FRS should deffo be cheaper to insure compared to the vee - not just as its a lower group but also as its smaller engine, etc. May also be worth considering getting a tracking system fitted to the FRS as that should bring the premium down on the FRS (well it certainly did on mine this year :D )

What do you mean Group 27 and 28? Theres no such Group. The highest insurance group is 20 I think you'll find.
