..........the British Vee owners were this enthusiastic about using their cars properly........

Great stuff once more from www.Cliov6passion.fr

[smilie=thumbsup3.gif]

That was fantastic mate! A little bit windy but the sun was there and we had great fun this Saturday.

I really hope, we will be able to organize something all together one day. It would be pretty cool to meet the British people.

looking in wrong place if you expect the majority of Vee owners to track thier cars, i would love to see that in the uk but i just know it wouldn't happen, lol

That guy is one lucky owner!!!

If only we were them and not us. The French obviously don't find it boring or get dizzy going round and round and round a track. I reckon 100% of French owners track their cars 365 days a year and never wash or polish them.

Vive La France. :approve:

Aha!

We are not tracking all the year but at least once a year to meet people around a cup of coffee or a piece of cakes or even a glass of wine [smilie=yay.gif]

If I can say a few words : French love to use their car on a track but they love a clean car as well.

Before the trackday, I washed Betsy and polished "her" to make her pretty before meet her French cousins ^^ Then BAAAAANZAAAAAIIIIII :powa:

After the racetrack, as the car has been polished, I just needed to wash it then she could be parked in my garage to wait for another event (or working day!)

Come on mates : if you are interested in a trackday, just let us know and we will be very pleased to welcome you.

BTW : some Vees are missing on the upper photo : a deep blue one, an other blue and Luigi's Trophy ^^

Max, were you at Dijon a couple of years ago? Remember me being there? the lone Englander! That was a great day. Erik Comas, Ragnotti, Arnoux all there as well, great stuff.

Nope! I wasn't there because I didn't buy Betsy yet. I'm a lucky owner since April last year.

I know they went to Dijon 2 years ago. Last year they went to Charade and I'm so sorry to have missed that great event : the last one with Renault Histoire & Collection. Ragnotti and Comas were there as well but not this year :s

Now I'm waiting for the next year or this year if I can earn some bucks to go to Spa in May.

I'm missing out..........

Sorry but I find this post quite insulting! as a British clio owner I am passionate about my car and cars in general. Just because I don't do track days does not mean I am anymore less an enthusiastic owner in England compared to the French!

I did say using not owning. Lets face it you wont ever know these cars if they stay on the public road.

+1

I probably wouldn't want to track a vee if I bought one, my general lack of skill on a track and funds available to fix it would be my main reasons, but I'd live with and accept other people's opinions who have had the experience point out the fact that I wasn't getting 100% out of it.
The Vee is more about track days than scrutinizing the quality of your polishing cloths on CD's then taking HD photo's from wacky angles.. imvho. Hats off to anyone who does track their vee.

Take it on track or in this country go to an airfield day (it'll be cheaper)...

Learn how the car behaves in an environment where it's far less likely to cost you your licence, insurance or worse.

You can do a cheap day with Carlimits or splash the cash and do a day with Don Palmer and I'd guarantee that you'd be:

a) Safer
b) Quicker
c) In possession of knowledge about how the car handles in extremis that will be useful

Seriously the track or airfield is an infinitely better place to find out just what lift off oversteer actually is...

All IMHO obviously... :-)

Agree, in principle with the above - the alternative being something like the drift days at oulton park where they have a pair of glazed tarmac rally stages which they dowse with water and allow you to perform wet driving drift practice. All under controlled supervised conditions with free instruction available all day :approve: I guess also skid pan sessions would also provide useful knowledge ...

At Oulton I played about with the Vee and it can be spun so easily with just a very short dab of the throttle and a small amount of steering lock. They can also be drifted brilliantly with constant steering input - as demonstrated to me by an instructure who had a go in the Vee and loved it.

Oulton Drift Days

For me the place NOT to have your first serious wet driving 'moment' in the Vee is on the road - as it could by the Vees last 'moment' in the wrong hands. On the other hand exploring the 'racing pedigree' and limits in the dry is not an essential thing to do in IMHO as a Vee owner so don't think track days purely for that reason are everyones cup of tea or owners should be in any way considered inferior for not doing them. They are an enjoyable experience though and people should not be too worried about doing a track day, especially a supervised/single make one, as they should be considered more about enjoyment and experiencing the car rather than just tooling around at stupid careless speeds and risking a crash.
