just tryna install a stereo in my newly bought clio williams 2, the wires have all been chopped off and i'm tryna sus out what thy now do, there is a big red one that i'm assuming is my constant live, then ther is a black with grey on it and a black with green on it, also there is a green and yellow which i assume is the earth wire although i expected to see a black one for ground, there are many others but i think these are speaker wires, can anyone spread some light on this for me please?

are these the kenwood colrs or the clio colours? there is abig red wire which is permanently live and bigger than the rest but all the wiring diagrams i have seen say the battery live should be yellow??

to be honest if you don`t know what you are doing take it to a local audio shop and they will do it for you, I am an electrician and I could not be bothered to do mine, went to my local one 15 quid later it was done and I did not have to touch a thing :D

i'm an electrician also so thought i could do it but found out i can't so its pissing me off more than anything wanna know why i can;t do it, the clio wires are different to every drawing i've looked at, the kenwood ones are as stated in most drawing its just the clio ones, chopped and jointed here there and everywhere, is that all it cost ya 15 quid? might give in tomorrow then,
cheers

I hate it when people chop the plugs off. I just put on an adaptor to my head unit. Then I can plug in a new head unit within minutes, HU out, cage out, new cage, plug, insert - tune ...

all the speaker wires in my clio are pinkl for some reason, when i fitted mine (some cut the plug off) it was a pain in the arse to find the wires for each speak and match them up lol

The speaker wiring for the different phases is different colours.

Get a cutting of the plugs from Mat Brown and make sure it's the correct phase wiring, then just link the same coloured wires together. job done.

I could tell you what all the wires do if you need to know but the above method would be easier and foolproof.

what is a cutting of the plug? mines a williams 2, think i know what the speaker wires are its just the big red one which i think is battery and then there is a black and grey and a black and green which i'm unsure off, expected the earth to be black but its green and yellow like in houses,

I meant get someone to cut the plugs off a car thats being scrapped so you can attach them to your wiring.

The big black wire is earth, big red is permanent live, yellow is ignition live, thats all you need to power it up

hi, there is'nt a big black wire, there is a green and yellow earth wire like what someone would use ina house, also what would black with grey on it be and then black with green on it be? cheers

Take a picture of the wiring mate, i'm guessing this is the wiring from the car side? The radio wiring is all intact, correct?

If you wanted to bring the car down to Leicester i'd do it for you.

ye its the car side i'll go and take a photo, not insured or taxed the car yet so could'nt drive down yet, thinkin of sellin my engine if ya know anyone interested? you any idea what the black and grey and the black and green are?

Not off the top of my head.

Need a pic really and i'll compare it to my loom.

had enough and took it to a autospark who said it was the hardest he had done in a long time, lol, now it turns off every time i brake, going back tomorrow, thanks for all ur help anyway

Sounds like he wasn't the brightest spark in the world then (Pun indended :P)
