I was told by the company (longlife exhausts) I'm going to that you take your car in, they assess your needs and then make up the relevant pipework (plus anything extra to make it fit) and then slot it on the car. Can you not take it in when you're not using the car (weekend?) and they can draw you up a design?

I think Matt mentioned he got his decat pipework done for about £280 somewhere. £400 seems a bit steep...

I've spoken to afew companies that do custom pipe work and the one problem I keep getting is the ends that the backbox fits onto, they are female ends on the collector pipe which i've finally managed to find the name of.. there are known as Butt ends or Bead ends in the tube end forming world... and the male part which is on the standard backbox & my Quicksilver & Matts Orbisound is know as a Flare end,

Well its the Butt or Bead end which is the problem end thats why they tend to cut off the ones on the collector which is a no no for me as I want to keep everything I take off my Vee complete,

The next issue I have is the flange, Im keeping my original downpies so its a little trickier than just 2 round exhaust flanges as I need to make up a new rectangle downpipe flange, the company I'm using said if I could sort the flange out they could do the rest as they don't stock pieces of plate also its going to be the most time consuming part so if I can do that myself they are only going to charge me £100 for the removal of my old system, all the pipework & re-fit!

The guy at the exhaust company said he might be able to find the tube ends I need to mate up to my backbox but I thought I would look for them too as I'm doing the flange & plus the more knowledge I learn myself the more I can share with anybody else wanting this mod done, ;)

Sorry not had chance to measure dimensions yet mate as not been to car this weekend. I'll get to it this week and sort it out. I've got a spare collector box for sale if you're interested too?

Nice one Matey appreciate it hugely if you can, I'll gladly sort you a drink out for your time Matt I'd never expect anything for free :approve: Or if your unsure of taking the measurments would you let me pop up and take a template off it?

Regarding the collector is that the one you have put up on here and on the bay with the end cut off? If it was it did cross my mind to buy it but I thought either way I have to find some ends to weld on as I don't want to cut my ends off mine so I may aswell go for a full custom job if i'm sourcing new ends uknow,

Its the reason why I asked you for the measuments help as I knew you had one off a Vee ;)

Either way you're more than welcome to pop up mate and take a template - might be more accurate that way or I'm happy to havce a go and get measurements the best I can.

Just a quick one guys...

I've been looking through afew more pics on here of the collector pipe & the one on eBay at the moment & the flange seems to be different.... Does anybody know if the collector & downpipe flange IS different on a phase 1 compared to a phase 2?

The pics i've been looking at are from phase 2's (as they are the only ones available) which have the rectangle flange with 8 studs holding it onto the downipe flange.. but the one on eBay & the janspeed cat back pipes also on eBay only have 2 stud holes per flange & also those flanges are round & seperate not a one piece rectangle one...

Can anyone shed any light on this as I dont want to start making a stainless Phase 2 flange (even though I already have the stainless plate! [smilie=doubt.gif] ) when I need a phase 1 flange made for MY car! :s

Cheers,

Cheers,

Phase 1 and 2s are diferent though phase 1 with enlarged bolt holes will fit ph2s.

Ph2s have 8 studs and phase 1s just 4.

Thanks for confirming that mate, as I said the only pics i had for reference were phase 2's, same as all the guys I have spoken too aswell.. all had phase 2's!! Lucky I didn't fabricate the wrong flange!!

If you have one of each collector it would be great to pop up & take a template from each as it maybe worth sharing them on here for those interested in the mod, If not the phase 1 flange is alot easier to measure up as the single round flanges are loads easier to pick up, all I need in that case is the hole diameter & how far the stud hole is away from the main hole if thats ok for you to do Matt when you have tme, :)

Matt have you had a chance at all to measure the phase 1 bore hole in the collector yet? RUSSO has given me a size for a phase 2 bore hole diameter I just wanted to check if a phase 1 was the same...

Hi sorry not had chance yet - I don't keep collectors at home so was gonna pop to the garage sat morning and do it for you. Hope that's ok mate as getting home when its dark too after work.
Will measure it all and photoshop onto images so you can see exactely. Is it the mk1 or mk2 box measurement you want or both to compare (jst so I'm sure).

Cheers and sorry for the wait on this.

Matt.

Matey its only the large bore hole diameter off the PHASE 1 collector I need now as you confirmed the phase 2 flange is different... So I don't need to fabricate one, Single flanges are very easy to get hold of i've just got to buy the right sized one off eBay ;)

RUSSO told me the diameter of a phase 2 hole is 56mm So all I need is confirmation a phase 1 is the same, I'm pretty sure it will be but its better to check as I don't wanna start buying the wrong flanges & using the wrong sized tube, :approve:

Hi Ash I've measured the phase 1 collector hole and they both are exactely the same size I measured approx 56-58mm across with a tape measure.

Hope that helps pal. Let me know if you need anything else. :approve:

Get some pics/writeup off the work in progress mate.

Matt.

:approve: Nice one matey.. thats all I needed to know :) Was pretty sure they wouldn't of used different sizes on each collector but as I say its better to check twice ;)

She is booked in friday for all the pipework to be done now I have all the sizes I need, so I'll get all the write up & pics done the weekend hopefully & stick it up on here, I'll see if I can get a video clip of her on the first start up on the ramps after the work has being done too ;)

I do know she is going to be f*cking loud though! 81db standard at the mo, with the Quicksilver OMG it goes straight up to 95db, then with the collector taken out completely she's gotta be getting on for 105db surely??

Cool - glad to be of help.

Mine is VVVVVery loud btw! :)

Ash - I've take measurements of both phase 1 and phase 2 collector boxes along with flanges mate.

 That is crack on sir thank you!! :approve: You didn't have to go through all that trouble for me with the pics etc but VERY much appreciated, 8)

Just a quick one is the 90mm diagonal measurment from the centre of the stud hole Matt or the nearest edge to the large bore hole? [smilie=thanks.gif]

No worries at all mate. Thought it might help abit more than random measurements.

I measured from the nearest edge of the large bore hold mate - It's not 100% accurate though as was using just a standard tape measure so could be a couple of mm out. Tried to get it as spot on as I could though.

Phase 1 downpipes by the way (if anyone else if reading) WILL fit phase 2 collector bolts if the hole are widened.
