I think the phase 1 clutch and flywheel is stronger than the phase 2 as well?

Or that's what I was told when fitting my Ph2 box to my Ph1 engine and flywheel ?

Think you can change without engine out as well

yeah its a tiny bit bigger too i believe also, i run a phs1 flywheel and clutch on my phs2 its SOOO much better than the dual mass phs2 horrible thing! cheaper too!

I might call down while Ricks doing it, I'm only 3 mins down the road at work! Would be interesting to see the box off!

If you do could you snap some pics please, I too would like to see what it looks like :)

No problem, are you happy for me to post them on here? Pm

Cheers
Dan

Cheers Fred, I'll bear that in mind. Though if I can avoid it at the minute, I'm moving house and Mrs R is pregnant, I'd rather to save some pennies

Bad news, the flywheel has a bit of play in it, so I can gamble and keep it or change it while they've got it all apart. I've gone for the expensive option, but at least it will be all well afterwards and I fancy doing a day at Bedford next year (though might be a bit skint now)

i do hope you're not fitting another dual mass unit! They're crap, call TTV (twenty twenty vision or you can order through demon tweeks) and buy one of their flywheels

Feck me! Didn't realise they were off the shelf. That's a no brainer. Sack the dualmass. Stick a ph1 clutch and pressure plate in and your away! I remember seeing the Trophy down Scotts. The way that thing reved was insane and that was down to the lightweight flywheel. For that reason I tracked down the original Renault trophy part.

Have you fitted one of these Fred? Or anyone else for that matter?

I've got some pics of your car with the box off, feck me the clutch is in a bad state!

I'll post them later on when I get home, I've also taken a small video of the play in the flywheel.

Cheers
Dan

Yeah he said the clutch was knackered. What I thought happened clearly didn't, I must've revved it and released the clutch.

D'oh, won't be doing that again...

Fred, thanks for the chat this morning, he's already ordered the parts and it is a genuine Ph2 dual mass flywheel that was £500 coming from France so can't turn around now.

Oh and thanks Dan for popping in, really appreciate it :)

So just to get this right..

The best thing when changing the clutch is (in aPH.2)

Fit -

PH.1 clutch kit clutch. (pressure plate and release bearing)
Remove the dual mass flywheel and fit A) PH.1 flywheel or B) a lightened flywheel?

Good to hear your Vee is getting cured. :approve:

How many miles has your vee done roy?

31k... To be honest it looks like its my mistake. What a knob

Looks like i'll not be launching the vee then. Not that I would anyway.

Went to a couple of drag strips in my old GT4 and went through two clutches in as many years. oops

Here's a few pics taken this morning...

Very tidy engine bay, and I was shocked at how much space there is up there once the subframe is off and the gearbox removed.

All fixed [smilie=yay.gif]

Can't go get it until tomorrow though as Mrs R is out in the familymobile [smilie=icon_cry.gif]

Dryclough Lane were fantastic though. I would thoroughly recommend them, kept me up to date with daily phone calls and threw in a half price oil change. They also replaced any bolts that they took out. Rick's a top guy. Gonna go spy on his collection when I pick up tomorrow
