Help I've broken down :(

So just while Greenflag ate waiting can someone have a guess at what's gone.

I was in traffic, some guys next to me asked if it was a replica... They then asked me to rev it, which I did but not excessively. So put it in 2nd to go and it went in, but went to change and couldn't get it into another gear.

Managed to roll it into the petrol station where I'm sat now. The gearbox moves freely when not on, but as I turn engine on and press clutch I can't select gear. Now I'm no mechanic but I'm thinking clutch has gone (?).

Or anything else?

And if it has how much is it gonna cost me? (Before I go Xmas shopping tomorrow).

Thanks

Try gear cables, where they clip onto the box. A "similar" thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. Just reclipped the cable back into it's position.

Though I don't know my arse from my elbow under there so not a clue where to look

have you tried starting it again and tried changing gear again, might have just been a one off

I can press the clutch, put it into 1st and it starts, but if I take it out of first it won't go back in another gear

Are you saying you can change gear when he engine is turned off but now when running? If so I'd say its a broken clutch plate or a broken slave cylinder.

That's exactly what it is. There was no slipping of the clutch which is leading me to think, after talking to Oly, that its a slave cylinder.

Thanks

So with that in mind, am I gonna be on Turkey nuggets Xmas day?

I think it's at times like this you're allowed to used the word "Bollocks" !

Good Luck with the fix..............sounds like the same issues you'd have if it was a cable operated clutch and that had snapped, so could be the slave cylinder.

Damn. Sorry to hear that buddy, if I was in Leeds I would have drove round and helped you out, but I'm working away at the moment. Hope you get it sorted soon buddy and hope its not too expensive..

Cheers guys. On the back of a breakdown truck now. Went on fine.

Where's best to take it now? Scott? As I'm in Leeds it's pretty far to get it there. Anywhere else?

Thanks

Motec vehicle solutions... Across the m62 and down into Ellesmere Port. Great specialist, good luck hope its not too pricey fella :approve:

Gutted for you Roy, might be worth giving Rick at Dryclough Lane Garage, Halifax a ring. Great service, Renault trained, vee owner and a very knowledgeable guy :salut: see LINK
Hope you get it sorted quickly and reasonably :approve:

when my box went - it wouldn't roll freely so if yours could be rolled/pushed thats not a bad sign - equally true for the flywheel and clutch casing.
