haynes error on front torsion bar fitment?, r5 gordini turbo

hello gents, could anyone verify the front torsion bar installation for me, i need a bit of a sanity check as I cant get the RH torsion bar anchor bracket to swing up enough to get the bolt in (even with tension loading tool I made) I managed to do the LH bar ok last year but the RH seems to be giving me grief:

- triple mark on end of bar is for RH bar
- Double mark on end of bar is for LH bar
- the orientation front to back is irrelevant? ie if i've mixed up which end of the torsion bar goes into the anchor bracket that shouldnt matter?

for fitting RH bar:
- seat spline into wishbone, any rotation
- put a bolt/nut through the chassis and OUTBOARD anchor bracket hole.
- with the anchor bracket "floating" (off the spline) obtain 40mm offset as specified in haynes
- locate anchor bracket onto spline
- apply tension using lever tool (bolted to OUTBOARD hole) to bring the INBOARD hole up enough to get the bolt in nice

LH bar fitment should be the same as above.

haynes flips from outboard to inboard when you turn the page, am i going mad?

Any hints or tips?

Its been a couple of years since lowering then raising my car, just remember spending hours in /out to get the right setting. I to, made the torsion tool, but remember having to use a trolley jack on to get the required setting!!

the end of the torsion bars where is enters into the wishbone, has a different number of splines to the end that the anchor bearing attaches to.

Haynes Book of Lies does seem a bit confusing. I've not done it myself yet but was planning to follow the tips in this thread.

well thats good in that at least i cant get them the wrong way around front to back, since they went in without the use of a jackhammer.

eek, yes. my front right member lift off the chock and im still no where near getting the bolt in.

thanks everyone.

so in either case (Left or right hand bar), the INBOARD hole is the one you 'squeeze' up to the chassis and the OUTBOARD hole is the one thats bolted up first of all? assuming you are fitting the bars to the car.

I start off with the 40mm gap and the car lifts before the hole lines up... the engine and gearbox are fitted.

did i put weights inside the car when fitting the LH bar, im thinking back, i think I may perhaps of, sandbags would be better?
