Harmonic Balancer ?

I was told my harmonic balancer has some small cracks starting to show up in the rubber bit. Problem is, I cannot find it in the illustrated parts breakdown. I thought the engine uses the dual mass flywheel to dampen torsional harmonics.

Can anyone please point out where the harmonic balancer is and the part number?

Thanks
Kris

I thought this might be a stereo component when I opened the thread...

New one on me. Perhaps the technical wizards can assist.

I'm pretty confident it is the bottom pulley bolted to the other end of crankshaft. Being at the end of the world Down Under, I want 100% sure though before ordering anything. Google search didn't provide much help unfortunately.

You are correct it is the front pulley ,two piece bonded together and the rubber splits with age and if left too long can fall apart and vacate the crank along with the aux /alt belt !

Looks like I found it. I missed it previously looking for the parts in the timing and accessory belt kits.

Item no. 7, part number 96 35 003 180

I was thinking all along, surely it's just the pulley, but too shy to post item 7. I need to become more confident with technical stuff.

I believe Scott fitted this new pulley on my Vee about 2 years ago.

Harmonic Balancer - what a techy/engineering name for a simple pulley - and who cares about some perished rubber, it will never fly off ... will it

I have ordered this part, aka crankshaft pulley, when I had my cambelts changed.

Since Ph1 and Ph2 shares the same part number for the crankshaft pulley, you might find that the number listed in the fiche is now replaced with 96 55 725 980 as this was the part number I ordered mine almost 2 years ago.

It is also advisable to replace the crankshaft pulley bolt (96 17 872 780) at the same time since it does go out of shape.

Thanks for the part number update shinji.

Contacted Wolf for possibly supplying a whole stack of parts in the next few months!

Wolf should have no problem handling big orders cos I do that on occasion.

I once order a new Clio bonnet from him and delivered to HK. Needless to say the delivery cost more than the bonnet lol
