Gutted! MOT Failure

Mr Jones

Member
Well, after 2 years of being off the road and a substantial amount of work, the clio went in for its MOT, and it failed.

Emissions were way too high at idle and fast idle, and there is a crack in the top of the exhaust mid section (wouldn't have expected this from a stainless magnex).

What is causing the emissions to be so high i dont know, is there a chance the crack could be influencing this??? Or maybe the cat or lambda is knackered??

Not bad going though to be honest, fairly pleased there is nothing too drastic to sort out, but i now have 10 days to sort it out or i will be paying full wack for a retest.

the exhaust will draw in air through the crack thus leaning out and affecting the lambda reading. Taking it outside the limits
