Remove the engine covers! if you have an electric screwdriver won't take more than a few minutes. Once you've done it a few times it becomes second nature!!!!

I dont know.. But I get the impression ph 1 and 2's are different? I've replaced the coils on my 255, but when I was chating to a guy who'd worked breifly on a 230, he seemed supprised that i'd managed it without taking loads of the engine apart.

U got there in the end but sods law it will be those same ones that will go again! If I have to do it again I will be using an electric screw driver.

The inaccessible ones I assume you refer to the mk1. You have to remove the 6 (I think) bolts on the top of the inlet manifold which hold it down, then at the front where there are two bolts with rubbers, the inlet should then lift off and give you access to the 3 coils underneath once you move it to the side. Is not a big job but you will need the top 2 engine covers off to get access.
