Got the old diesel going.

So last night, I got me trusty old clio diesel going* but theres something wrong. How difficult was it to take out the 7mm battery tray holder? WTF! Anyways so after about half an hour of trying different methods, I get the hammer and the little tool that turns things under pressure and give it a few wacks, then attatch the mole grips to the little tool that turns things under pressure! Jobs a good en.

Gets it off, starts it up and then when I put the lights on the rev counter light was out and the temperature gauge when right up. I checked the coolant, oil etc before I started the car and saw that it had enough. I checked all the fueses underneath in the passenger footwell but they seemed ok. Didn't check the relays though, not sure what to look for!

So with that little story in mind, what could be the problem?

Cheers guys!

first post in the right section (I am about to move it)

yes the 7mm pin is terrible, the early 19 13mm version is much better.

Theres a short somewhere or the voltage reg in the dials is fooked.
