gordini turbo , turbo 2 build

this is a 79 gordini turbo which i have had for about 10 years now and never had a chance to do anything with untill now , i have stripped it down to see how much welding it needed , the floor, chassis and inner wings have never been welded and dont need to which was a bonus ,( 1 inner needed repair) i have new wings , new complete doors , and rear arches for it and 1 sill , the idea was to build it back to std , but then i remembered i had a complete turbo 2 kit, so the std idea went out the window , so engine in the back ?? yes either the v6 ren/pug engine or maybe just a wee cij 1.4 turbo in it , watch this space for updates

one inner wing needed repair i ment

If there was a "Ministry for hairbrained schemes", it would have it's HQ in your garage. (or mine lol)

Next project I do on any scale, after the 21, the 9 and the Fuego are in a fit state, will be twin engined. It's an itch I am going to have to scratch at some point.

As with everything Andy, there's always a way round it. apparently the problem is with it having 2 sets of independant driven wheels, if the gear linkage is disconnected from one it's deemed as only having one set ;)
Mike, have you noticed the odd positions of the dini rear wheels in the t2 arches?
Also worth considering whichever engine you use that ideally you'll want it mid engined rather than fwd setup in the back, guess you'll have some gta bits knocking about

yes i put the kit on just to see what it would look like , on the back there is 2 wheels just wanted to see the width i would have to come out , i would have to cut the original arches up by 8 inchs at least lol , was thinking off using a gta rear end , or a front off a 11 turbo but i havent measured it yet , just at the idea stage and any input would be good at this stage ,,

To keep it simple, why not consider using the whole front end of a transverse car and grafting it into the chassis at the back? Front subframe, hubs, wheels, wishbones, suspension (replaced for coilover if McPherson as std)... Would save a whole load of ****ing about, and will only need 4 datum points to mount into the chassis.

thats why i was thinking about the 11 front end and using the complete front , well subframe , struts etc , same as i did with a 5 many years ago but having the wider 11

Any pics of the 5, not many rwd/twin engines about.
If you've done a 5 already then you'll be aware of the handling issues using all fwd stuff in the rear, half the setup needs to be altered or changed just for general fast driving hence suggesting the gta running gear. Also a c1j or dini lump in the rear isn't too bad but using bigger and heavy lumps is definitely going to affect handling alot more, not so much of an issue if it's longitudinal. Again for simplicity and cost, for me anyway, would be back half of a gta and running gear with j7r and un1 box. Look forward to seeing progress

will try dig some out , they will be on normal photos as camera phones not about and i prob didnt use a normal camera lol , it was just a rear engine c1j , if i remember i put it in but he did the rest , apart from the intercooler which i put in the roof with a channel ., i dont even no if the car was finished ,

what i could do with is a lsd , is there a best plact to buy one ??

Old skool photographs lol. How long ago was it? You could have been the first to build one. So you did all the fabrication side of it for a customer? I'm guessin it was never finished then cos I've never seen one with a roof scoop. Be good to see if you come across the pics.
LSD for which box?

long long time talking about 14 + years ago , i did most off the work but did have help and advice from a guy who built off road buggies , lsd for a jb3 box 5/9/11 turbo
