General chat about Silverstone Classic 2016

Getting to the venue early is recommended, due to the congestion/queues on the roads leading up to the venue and at the entrance, but anytime before 8:30 should be fine.

See you all at Silverstone - cloudy on Friday, but, so far, the weekend looks good.

Does anyone know what the likely hood is of getting a ticket on the day, I noticed it says some corporate returns maybe available but don't really want to drive all the way down there to b turned away.

Fantastic weekend indeed. Still buzzing :)

Thank you all for coming and helping out with the very neat display :approve:

A massive thank you to Dulan (Lankan) for organising ALL of it.

Second that, great weekend!

Thanks very much to everyone for putting in all the effort setting up/down. Our club stand looked great, and the event was very enjoyable.

Super weekend, but a bit gutted that I could not be there on Sunday. So much to see and do, and two days wasn't enough......

A big THANKS to all of you who attended, and made our club display stand out. Good to catch up with regular attendees, and meet members who I hadn't met before. There certainly was quite a bit of interest in the Vees. Even a couple of Porsche Club GB stewards rolled up inquiring about the Vee, with one actively looking to purchase one. Of course, it wasn't long we got into a lengthy discussion re all things Vee, and (old school) Porsches (911s), and how similar they are to drive! :)

Even with 2 drop outs we had a 12 Vees in attendance on Saturday.

Last, but not least, thank you to James, Dave and Big Mark who took care of the logistics of transporting, setting up and taking down the our Club Marquee, and to James for supplying drinks and crisps.

Wonderful event, superb machinery and great company. I hope we get to visit next year too. I will post up the photographs I took when I have some time.

For those of us who visited the auction, would you care to guess how much the 205 1.9 GTI made on the day? [smilie=icon_eek.gif]

I did seem mental - but when £30k seems to be the going rate for modern hot hatch, then it's not so outrageous.

Perhaps it was somebody who missed out on the Golf Clubsport S allocation?
: )

Very impressive sale price. I've never driven one before, but have obviously heard the hype around them. I was more of a MK1/2 Golf Gti person :race:

Good omen for future prices of modern classics.

A bit late, but I'm now on holiday in the sun... [smilie=yay.gif]

Thanks to all those involved for sorting out the club stand this year. It was, as usual, a fantastic exhaust fumes, ear popping weekend..!! Great to see everyone and catch up with you or be-it quite briefly with many.

Pics appearing on the FB group soon! :race:

Next stop... Origine RS.. See you all there! :approve: :salut:

Thanks for posting this up James - managed to record the programme and watch it over the weekend. Some great racing, even the F1 cars were going for it.

Good to see that our club stand was featured in the last few minutes of this feature.

We are also featured in the latest issue of the Modern Classics magazine. The following narrative describes it all: [smilie=yay.gif]

"Renault Clio V6s
The Clio V6 Owners Club (v6Clio.net) put on a great display, with more than 10 of these rare mid-engined beasts gracing Silverstone's grass
"

We actually had 13 Vees on the Saturday.

You are joking about the price of the GTi right?

I have 2.5 of these knocking around.............

2 of which are limited edition and the 1.9 that was at Auction was just a regular 1.9GTi

EDIT: Mine do not have 8k miles on the clock, more like 112k :D
