Gearbox sump plug

What do people use to undo the gear box sump plug i tried a spanner on the weird square bolt thing and it looks like its going to chew the hell out of it. Is the any certain tools to use?

a 10mm square sump plug key/bit

is this on EOY? I would be interested to see what colour the oil is when you drain it..

Im curious to where can i get one from ive got the normal sump plug keys but i cant seem to find somewhere which does an inverted one.

Ok there called a 10mm female drain plug key ive now just gotta find where to get them from.

I got a drain plug set from Screwfix and it came with ever type you could imagine.

10mm open ended spanner undid mine. No chewing involved lol

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make sure you can undo the filler plug first before undoing the drain! laugh you may, but its been done (not me, it was a guy that got nicked for no insurance while racing home after buying the car LOL)

I have done that in my early days. The filler can be a pita to get to.

drained it, come out quite clean actually was rather shocked.

yeah thats what i done first to be on the save side the filler was a pain to get to.
