Gearbox Q's

Just been to the local scrappy after hearing they had a 1.9DT in .
Had a look round for a gearbox for the diesel, I can find 4, 3 without identity plates and one JC5 228.

Questions are, how do I know if a gearbox will fit the Diesel? I know it's a JB3, but I'm not sure if any of the unmarked ones are.

And.. apparently (I don't believe this for a minute but couldn't be arsed arguing) the JC5 is the Renault 16v Sport box, with limited slip diff and uprated gear ratios?? :roll:

I personally think this is bollocks but, any and all information would be helpful regarding box's, as I'm really needing to get some bits now.

I thought it might have, just wanted someone to confirm the LSD bit. And as far as I know any JB3/5 would fit but I'm not 100%

No, it's bullshit, no standard JB or JC box has a limited slip diff.

JC5 is not a 'renault sport' box - although it's used in clio 172s/182s etc, it's also found in turbo diesel 19s etc.

What exactly would an 'uprated' gear ratio be anyway? They're just ratios.

I knew that, but he was a stubborn git and I can't be arsed arguing, the only one I know of was the one Renault made, 6 speed sequential with LSD for the Clio Maxi rally car I believe. A one off!

I did think the JC5 would bolt onto the F8Q. Just needed conformation.
