Gearbox project.......

Over the years people have always seem to wonder about gearbox option for the v6. Well tonight myself and Blake mated an uprated gearbox to his supercharged engine. Originaly designed for motorsport its strength is massive in comparison to a pk06, it has an LSD and even has provisions for cooling. We have a little way to go yet but once done there will be nothing to stop Blake putting massive power (gearbox is good for 800hp) to the wheels. He wants a drivable 400hp.

Will it fit though Oldskoolbaby , Brett? Looks a little longer than the chocolate Renault one!!!!
What happened to the Sadev?
Great work anyway :salut:

Yeah will definatly fit Phil. Blake has traded a 6th gear for a more robust 5 speed gearset so its infact a little shorter. The ratios are nice and he has an option of a longer final drive if its a little too revy.
We just need to fab up a gearbox mounting pin and play about with the driveshafts. The dummy template is due to be lazer cut and dowels machined and fitted either side.

The sadev is mine. ;)

Well its been a while since me and my brother worked on our cars but we are having abit of a push on with his currently.
A couple years ago we cobbled together some bits to try and mate the Toyota gearbox with our good old v6 engine. Over time, Blake decided to purchase a ph2 gearbox and keep the car naturally aspirated, albeit 280ish hp. Well after a rough few months we have picked his project back up again.
We have now adapted the MR2 Turbo gearbox to bolt directly to a 100% standard v6 engine minus the Renault starter motor. We were initially going to fit an adaptor plate and custom flywheel but instead resorted to adding material where needed and using the standard reno bolt pattern and ring dowel.
Next week end we are picking his low compression engine up so the following week may see gearbox, engine and supercharger all together for the first time.

Off Topic... seen this?!?! Makes yours look like a pussy!

On Topic... I think this gearbox could be the answer for the 300+ bhp Clio V6. I hope you’ve carefully kept the recipe safe...

Haha Speaking to him already Kett ;) Mine might be a pussy to look at but as Scott once said to me, “its an angry cu*t under the skin” lmao.

I have made tooling and a few templates for the extra webbing we are adding to the stock Toyota gearBOXES.
We have a few things to do still but that will be done once in his car. Gearbox mount will be a modified Automatic Espace item so it fits a 100% standard bodyshell. Blake is also using an MR2 gear selector which means shift will still feel nice (important) and we don’t have to modify rarer Vee parts. Clutch and flywheel are toyota items so we can use the better located starter motor above the gearbox and away from the red hot exhaust manifolds.
The geabox is a great bit of kit. Pitfall is its only 5 speed but you never get into 6th on a track anyway. There are a couple of final drive ratios to pick from. We’ve gone for the longer due to the torquey nature of Blakes supercharged engine. It has provisions for an oil cooler for motorsport use but Toyota simply fitted a U bend to the flow and return so Blake will also be using a small cooler in its place.
