French trip: 4th/5th/6th October 2013

A couple of us were planning a car related long weekend roughly based around the Cliov6 Passion trackday event at Linas-Montlhery on Sat 5th and Sunday 6th October. The plans are still very sketchy at the minute, but as a guide the intinerary may look a little like this:

Thursday 3rd: early evening ferry/chunnel to France. Hotel with secure parking.
Friday 4th am: Dieppe factory tour, with drive out on Renaultsport testing roads.
Friday 4th pm: Renault museum in Paris. Hotel with secure parking. Vee photos with fancy French stuff in the background. General sight-seeing, wine drinking, garlic munching.
Saturday 5th: Linas-Montlhery for Clio V6 Passion event
Saturday 5th evening: Vin rouge et vin blanc with our French counterparts
Sunday 5th: Linas-Montlhery for Clio V6 Passion event or, for those deciding to return to the UK on the Sunday, scenic drive to the coast for ferry/chunnel crossing.

As I said, just a rough idea at the moment and I'm sure things will be added/dropped from the itinerary or timescales adjusted.

Once a better idea of uptake is known and the itnerary is confirmed I will post up a few hotel options with prices. I'd suggest that we pick a ferry/chunnel crossing on the Thursday night, Sunday/Monday afternoon and then individually book, as this avoids anybody being out of pocket for non-attendance, missed crossings etc.

For those that are interested and would like to attend, please add your names to the list below this post.

Those that want a more detailed insight, the Cliov6 Passion event was attended by the club in 2012 Montlhery 2012

Small update:
Have got the ball rolling with the v6Passion guys regarding the 2013 event itinerary, costs etc.

Have also started organinsing the Dieppe tour, this may be a little tricky so we may have to call in a few favours. At worst we can get some photos with the factory in the background, but I want a bit more than that really. Renault UK have said anything outside official tours is a bit of a no-no but they know the dates of our trip and, as they've yet to confirm the 2013 tour dates, they're bearing us in mind to try and help out. Good news (potentially). Will update if/when I know more.

Also priced up the channel tunnel. Because it's so far in advance it's looking pretty much the same price across the various timing options: c£95 return on the "short stay saver" ticket.

There are crossings at 8pm, 10pm and 12am on the Thurs night or - which will probably work better - we could catch the 6am on the Friday morning therby negating the need for a French hotel on the Thursday night.

Dover-Calais on the ferry is slightly cheaper at c£80 return with more options time-wise so I guess it's down to personal preference.

Personally I think the 6am Friday chunnel crossing would work best.

The problem is it's salty and some Renault Espace with 43 children in it will swing their door into the Vees making it look like we've driven through Syria

Dont want to be a sour puss here Jon, but have you just invited us along to their event... rather than being invited as we were last year..?

Just trying to get my head around whats going on etc.. :approve:

Neither at the mo Shaun. Lol.

I'm trying to coordinate a trip to France at the same time that the v6passion event is on so that, should we get invited, we can attend. To be honest I didn't really want the focus of the trip to be the v6passion event hence Dieppe and Paris, but it would certainly be nice to attend if we're invited as we were last year.

The itinerary of course assumes that we'll be invited, but if not then no dramas, plenty of other things to be seeing/doing, as i said its a French trip not a v6 passion event trip. I cant see why our attendance will be a problem but am planning on seeing what's what with Ben and Vincent next week :approve:

Cheers

Already invited ;)

This originally started with a planning of a drive round Europe in June/July prior to Jon's wedding in Aug. A few nights of Debauchery prior to years of monogamy or ineffect eventual forced celibacy. Enjoy his last moments of freedom!!

Plan was Nurburgring, Austria, Switzerland thru to Italy Modena, back west thru coastal route to Monaco, then north via Route Napoleon and hit Paris. This would have been a Sunday to Sunday/Monday trip. But we then decided September would be easier financially and timing-wise. I already had Montlhery planned and booked off as holiday in Oct so eventually we decided we can combine a day at Montlhery within our little Eurotrip. Our Eurotrip now has turned into a very small mini-trip and minus nights of debauchery, minus male stripogram (just for Mr Ginge ;) ), minus autobahn automotive mayhem, but with the potential dubious weather as its so late in the year!!

So I hope no one sees it as though we are stepping on anyones toes, webbed feet, flippers or slippers, we have just thrown it out there and see what interest there would be. The more the merrier for this unusually late stag-do!!!!

Another small update:

I've confirmed that we're more than welcome to attend the v6Passion event. Our French cousins are still in the informal planning stage themselves but have supplied a (very) rough 2013 pricing guide:

EUR140 - 1 day entry, including full track access and 1 lunch.
EUR60 - 1 day entry (static display only), including 1 lunch.
There is also likely to be a 'two day' price for each of the above.

EUR25 - each additional lunch

These prices could go up or down.
