Here are some crappy iphone pictures as requested. I have outlined the metal collar, and drawn on some rubber suspension...









anyone got an idea of what it does

its part of the viscous coupling

its a collar suspended by rubber, what does it do, dampening effect. the rubber supports are broken on mine on one side.

I thought it might be contributing to my rattle but I've worked out it goes away when I brake/hand brake

If theyre the std fit ones and not the alternative ones I mentioned, they suck arse.

Get some R25 style ones on it.

I just took the rear calipers/hangers apart, reshaped the anti knock/rattle springs, regreased and reassembled. Cant see anything else that would rub/bang/rattle/knock/fart/etc, if its still there - the jerry can comes out again.
