F7R (Williams) into a 19

How is this done? I've seen and heard of the conversion many times, but I only just stopped to think about how all the bits go together.

Like engine mounts the Clio's are all top mounted and the 19 has them all under the engine on the subframe (I know the gearbox one is the same), how do you get round this?

And engine management, I know where the ECU would go but what about wiring? Do the looms just plug straight into the 19?

Having not done major work on a 16v with the engine still in the car I've no idea how it all goes together :?

Its done by magic. Carried out by fairies who talk in soft well spoken voices, they sometimes sing as well. All very nice.

Or you just fit the 19 mounts to the engine, 19's inlet manifold, fit the alt setup off the 19 then fit the 19 loom plug in and drive away.

I prefer the first one, sounds easier ;)

Sounds easy enough, a little detail on the reasons for changing the manifold and alt? Obviously because their not the same but how exactly do they differ?
I didn't realise the loom fitted the F7R, just a case of changing ECU's then.

Other issue with clio is iscv position

it will run on the 1.8 ecu but obviously its not optimised

Funny I read that project report this evening!
Doesn't that clio have the alt removed? It's just the two pulleys above the water pump then, whatever they are.
Is this the same with the clio F7P as the F7R williams?

the clios are the same regardless of capacity

yes the alts missing its to the right slightly, the 19 is missing the pas pump you never noticed that!

That's good news! I'm learning something now!

Ahh, bugger! thought it looked a bit strange, is that what the other 2 pulleys are on the clio? PS pump, and an idler?!

Seems simple enough, just all the 19 brackets and belt then. Might consider this if I can get my hands on a certain williams F7R :D

surely it would be easier to buy a running megane 16v and take the engine out of that , at least you can drive it and make sure everything is sweet . I know its not a williams but its a 2litre , or get hold of a written off clio 172

He already has a megane engine, the reason he wants the williams lump is because he wants to have working dash instrumentation again without changing to meg clocks or 172 units!

Wow, I didnt think of that!

It would work as the clio ECU is different, i'm assuming.
Either way I'm considering it as I can get a rebuilt one, ready for tuning with two boxes, ECU and loom for 400 sheets. (No idea if thats reasonable, but I'm considering it)

Lewis to get the clocks for your car working you gotta change the dash and the loom, pain in the arse eh!

... or change the ECU and head to the F7P. I don't even know where to begin if I was changing the dash and loom! It's a pain yeah, the only thing I don't like about these cars, never knowing whats compatible as not many people make aftermarket parts :(
