F7R 2.0 16v Help


Just wondered if there is any difference between a f7r 2L williams head and a f7p 1.8 head? Is it just the extra 200cc and the way the ecu is mapped that gives the extra bhp? What about the injectors, cams etc...all the same as the f7p?

I am thinking of doing the f7r conversion in my 19 16v cab if I don't need the whole lot I will just swap over the bottom end and get an ecu from a williams clio.

short answer is yes 2l bottom end williams ecu job done.

Cheers Chris that's what I wanted to hear... I'll try and get a manifold too because it looks like the williams clio has some sort of 4 branch to increase the flow?

The F7R engine is used in Renault Clio Williams, Megane Coupe and Renault Sport Spider. The engine was created because displacement limit for FIA World Rally Championship Group A was 2000 cc and more power could be extracted from F7P (1764cc) engine with more capacity.
Differences between F7P (1.8L 16V) and F7R include increased capacity to 1998 cc, bigger valves, more aggressive cam profile, different crank, larger piston bore (82.7mm compared to F7P of 82.0mm), longer stroke (93.0mm compared to 83.50mm) different exhaust manifold, oil cooler, etc. All this results in more low-down torque and more power. Also F7R is coupled to uprated gearbox (JC5) instead of JB3(1.8 16V). Highly tuned F7R engine was used in Renault's rally car Clio Williams Maxi with power output ranging from 260 to 275 bhp (205 kW). This version was coupled with Sadev 6-speed sequential gearbox (stock Williams 5-speed manual).

That's pretty much spot on. The megane and spider version has a different head to the Williams with narrower ports and also different throttle body and uses a coilpack instead of distributor
 
What would be the best combination to build a 2L 16V using a distributor? Would putting a F7P head and a williams ECU actually give you the same results as a F7R or would you be better off just getting the head and block from a willliams clio and putting the whole lot in?

since most f7r's are way down on power you will most likely get better results.

Its not just a case of this is better than that.
