Exhaust Back box

[LH16v]

Hi,

I will need to replace the back box on my ph2 19 16v shortly as it pretty rusted and slowly falling apart.

I have a few questions.

Do any other back boxs fit the 16v? Would a 1.8 non 16v back box work? Would a clio 16v back box fit? Or a phase 1 megane?

I have looked on Ebay and seen this:

Anyone used a Sniper exhaust before?

just get a 16V box, not exactly hard to find, any factor will be able to get them.

Meganes etc will not fit.

How about megane 1.6 16v exhaust on megane 2.0 16v?

Is this exhaust to restricted?

umm don't know, not sure if its smaller dia. I think it is. Can't be 100% sure.

On catalogue there is back box for 1.6, 1.4 16v, 1.6 16v and 2.0 8v
and other for 2.0 16v.

Can I put from other car (Laguna 3.0 v6 ph1..?)

I can make custom mounts

if you have no problems making mounts etc why are you even asking? Just go get whatever matches the dia and make it fit.

I'm put off buying things from a motor factor due to the quality of fit of the s**t exhaust back box I ended up with for my old Calibra. Any brands to recommend?

The reason why I asked in the first place is that the 16v model was never sold in Sweden. All the 16vs in Sweden have been imported and therefore makes it very difficult to get replacement parts.

I was hoping that I might be able to find one at a scrap yard from an import car that has been scrapped or I would be able to find a box from another renault that would fit.

I have looked for a new one here and it would be just under £200 which I dont really want to pay. I have also looked at various factors in the UK but due to size and weight the postage is really expensive. I have been quoted postage of between £40 - £60.

Still dont know what I am going to do.

I have seen that there are a few SS exhausts still on the market in the UK. Piper and Mongoose being the main ones, if I was living in the UK I would probably order on of those (although nothing loud!).

I don`t know original dia for 2.0 16v.

I have 1.6e exhaust system on and exhaust is again very loud so I would like to put something on that would make my car quiet as possibile

maybe you could get one from denmark? I'm currently running an OEM back box and it set me back 500 DKK some years ago. That was from an official dealer..

Thanks for that, I will look into it. I expect postage to be expensive but maybe if I buy a few things at the same time it might make it a bit more worth while.

I did a search for this a couple of days ago and I dont think these are still available for a 19....or at least not new.
