exhaust advice please

I posted this on the M3 site I use but tbh they're a bunch of tossers at times and no one has said anything. lol

Janspeed are just down the road from me in Salisbury so I thought I'd give them a call and see if they made an exhaust for the e46 which they don’t. I'm booked in on Saturday for them to have a look at the car and see what they can fabricate, the costs and other options.

I was just wanting any ideas on what you guys thought was the best route to take with the exhaust.

materials? I'm thinking titanium but I hear the welds are problematic but it’s lighter than stainless steel and the sound is much nicer IMO.

Shape?I'm liking the tubular design of some of the back boxes, I'm not sure if it's more for looks though or if there is a benefit to it over the standard/scorpion shaped box, perhaps it’s just a weight saving exercise?

Tail pipe design, I'm thinking either the 83mm quad pipes (correct me if I'm wrong for the size please) or 2 big oval tail pipes.

I think that's about it tbh but if anyone has any other ideas to throw their way please let me know.

I'll post a link to some different designs so you can see what I mean.

I thought there was little or no room for improvement over the standard BMW exhaust.
or atleast this is the case with the e36...

The "Performance" rear can for the M3 apparently gives a small power and torque hike. It's made by Remus for BMW.

keep the standard look with the staggered exhaust pipes because imo its really cool and beemers have done it for years, but exhaust wise im nt really sure tbh whatever you can afford

yeah I had a think and the standard quad pipe look is going to stay but the tailpipes are being made larger so they fill the hole better.

this isn't being done for power, although a small gain will be made. Its to improve the exhaust note and the look from behind. Although I'm sure loosing 20kg over the standard system will help too.

Either cut up some bean tins and secure with jubilee clips or halfords stick on things.

with leds to be super cool

true about the beemer weight of exhausts, they all weigh a ton.

I had a trip to Janspeed and they didn't want to make an exhaust for the car as they haven't worked on the E46 before. The guy said to either find a cheap one on ebay and he can cut it up for me and make it how I want, which I think defeats the purpose.

We finally came up with a cheap and viable alternative which I think should be ok.
Fit my supersprint centre section and have some 90mm tips fitted to the exhaust to get the look and a better exhaust note without it being too intrusive. I'm liking the larger tips as they fill the holes in the bumper completely and as well as polishing them I'm having a blue flamed edge which I think looked quality.

I’m just waiting on a price now as the director wasn’t in on Saturday but I’m expecting it to be under £150. (just as well as I found another oil leak on the car today….. (sump this time although I think it’s been the sump all along)
