Where is best to source an engine from? I mean what would be closest spec to a ph2? apart from a ph2, guessing that's going to be the expensive route... 406 or similar being the cheap route? What are the differences here etc?

Try Scott at sg Motorsport or various Renault specialist breakers. 406 and Laguna engines are quite different in terms of inlet and power outputs. Why? Are you building one?

The citroen/reno 210hp lump is virtually identicle to the ph1 engine. I think its just the cams that are different although it still uses vvt. Get ph2 cams and inlet manifold and your another stage up so id say thats the best starting point in my opinion. If your planning a low pressure turbo setup then use the early non vvc L7X engine as it has a lower c/r as standard and it uses an alloy inlet manifold.

I do have a full engine and loom, or I have blocks heads pistons etc. ALL FOR SALE.
I even have 3.4 block pistons ready to go. also could source a long stroke crank, this takes it to around 4 litres.
Afar superior idea than turbos or supercharging. I am open to SENSIBLE OFFERS.

Yes I am going to build one up. Will try as you suggest but I think going straight for a Clio version would be the expensive option, ive seen Laguna and 406 engines go for 80quid full lump inc all ancillaries.

Is there a list of definitive differences between the various L7X engines? So comp ratios are diff? What I don't want to do is start with a lower model, tune it, and end up with 255 or something lol.

Hi, got your PM, You need to give me a call, i will not get into any quotes for prices via pm's as i have no idea in which direction you wish to go, i have many many parts, all for sale at reasonable realistic prices considering the car that these are for, let me know what exactly you want to build and then ring me and i will be happy to help.
MY opinion ONLY: I think the turbo route is not the way to go with one of these as the heat generated would be ridiculous for everyday use, whilst a larger engine with properly designed heads will be a far more driveable machine and does not need to look any different to a standard car. The 800bhp turbo option would however sound better whilst stood at the bar!.. remember, this is my opinion.

That's ok I'm not interested in pub talk figures :) Just saying the 02m is a proven gearbox.

I'll give you a call to discuss.

You have my number, you are welcome to speak anytime, however i am in the US from sunday for 8 days so text me if you need to get me after saturday.
